UK fans have mostly forgotten about Nigella Lawson’s drugs scandal from last year, but her record is far from clean – at least as far as US authorities are concerned. The celebrity cook has been banned from crossing into US territory and she found out the hard way. Lawson was blocked at Heathrow when trying to board a plane to the states on Sunday morning, the Daily Mail reports.

Nigella may have left the trouble behind her... but not everyone has.

The self-styled “domestic goddess” was forced to confess under oath during a trial last year that she had snorted cocaine seven times and smoked cannabis on numerous occasions – a fact, which hasn’t affected her public persona in any major way, but might still harm her career. Scotland Yard didn’t take any action on the case last year, but US authorities might not be as lenient. When trying to board her plane last weekend, Lawson was blocked mere steps away from the British Airways jet. She is thought to have checked in and passed security before being told she could not board her plane.

She had to return to the first class check-in to arrange to collect her hold luggage. 54-year-old Lawson’s cooking competition -  The Taste, could suffer because of the restrictions. This time, however, it was only her vacation plans that took a hit. Earlier on Sunday, Miss Lawson tweeted that she was packing for a vacation. Unfortunately, the airport is as far as she is likely to get for some time.

Lawson will have to settle for the same old hectic London for the time being.
