Parakeet's debut single, Tomorrow, will be released on April 2nd, 2011. It is lead single from their debut album, which will be released mid-2012. You can pre order the 7 inch disc on their website, or download the song for free via their Souncloud page.
The video for Tomorrow was directed by Babanuki from Bikini Films (Laura Marling & Peter Gabriel) and sees the duo playing while thick smoke circles around them.
Parakeet is the project started by Yuck's Mariko Doi (bass, vocals) and The History of Apple Pie's James Llewellyn Thomas (drums). Yuck formed in 2009 and released their self-titled debut album in February 2011, through Fat Possum Records. The band was formed by former Cajun Dance Party members Daniel Blumberg and Max Bloom; Mariko joined after performing in the band Levelload. Yuck were compared to the likes of Teenage Fanclub; Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine by critics, who gave the album positive reviews.
Meanwhile, The History of Apple Pie formed in 2010 and their debut single, You're So Cool, was released in June 2011 through Roundtable Records. Their second single, Mallory, was released in December 2011 and featured the B-side Shelf Life.
