British actor Malcolm Tierney has died, aged 75.

The Tv villain and stage star played a magistrate who executed William Wallace's wife in Braveheart, but he is perhaps best known for roles in British television series like Lovejoy, Dr. Who, Brookside and the original House of Cards.

He also had an uncredited role in Star Wars and appeared in the films MCVicar and In the Name of the Father, while he won acclaim for theatre roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company, too.
