Australian rocker Jimmy Barnes is on doctors' orders to rest for a month after falling ill.
The 55 year old sought medical advice on Tuesday (26Jul11) after suffering chest pains, and his doctor advised him to take a minimum of four weeks off.
Barnes has since cancelled a string of upcoming concerts, including an appearance at the Darwin Turf Club's Gala Ball in Australia this weekend (30-31Jul11).
A statement from the star reads, "I hate to cancel shows and over the years I've very rarely done it. Sorry to anyone who's been let down by this but I'll be back on deck in a few weeks time."
Barnes is expected to make a full recovery before kicking off rehearsals with Cold Chisel for a reunion tour in October (11).
