George Clooney and Sandra Bullock brought their star power to opening night at the 70th Venice Film Festival on Wednesday. The event launched with the world premiere of Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity, and the critical buzz has been big for the thriller about two astronauts stranded in space when their shuttle mission is hit by debris. The big movie in cinemas around the world this week is the documentary One Direction: This Is Us, which has taken a hammering from critics for being far too on-message. But it's likely to keep fans very happy, especially since it reveals things like the fact that Niall Horan strips down to his underpants when he records in the studio. The ladies bonded and caught some waves in Bali this week.
It’s officially summer and Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Greene are making full use of it at a surfer event in Bali (where else?) The young actresses teamed up for a girls’ getaway at the Oakley Pro Bali/Learn To Surf event in Indonesia. The ladies did everything that a good vacation should include – they soaked up the sun, tanning on a yacht at sea, went swimming in the stunningly clear water off shore, attended a party or two and even clocked in some surfing time.
Well, surfing is probably too strong of a word, since both the Spring Breaker and the Twilight Star are apparently novices at the sport, but, judging from the pictures, released by the Daily Mail, they’re showing some natural aptitude. In the pictures both ladies are seen standing up on their surfboards and even catching some waves (ok, they’re fairly tiny waves, but still). They seem overjoyed with the experience, with Greene raising her hands into the air while surfing and Hudgens sticking her tongue out at the camera at one point.
Then the girls reportedly attended an evening party for the event and, of course, they went with the appropriate boho attire, with Ashley tucking flowers into her hair and Vanessa donning a Bohemian-looking paisley frock. All in all, it looks like Greene did a good job at summarising the trip in her tweet from Wednesday: “Life. Is. Good.”

Ashley Greene loses a dog in fire
A fire ripped through Ashley Green’s West Hollywood condo today, tearing her home apart and, tragically, taking her dog's life. Apparently she has two dogs, though, and one of them is reportedly safe and sound.
TMZ first reported the fire, then added updates as they received them. Ashley, her boyfriend and her brother were out late last night and were sleeping when the fire broke out on the living room sofa. They left the place ASAP, but couldn’t get back in to save the dogs. A fireman explained to the gossip site that Ashley wanted to keep the dog that died, so the authorities wrapped it in a blanket so she could say her goodbyes. Ten fire trucks swarmed to the 7-story building to extinguish the blaze. The boyfriend, we assume, is Ryan Phillippe, and he’s recent news for the actress.

It wasn't hard to work out the theme for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards shindig in New York last night (November 13); namely seeming to be 'get as many glamorous women in a room together as possible', and boy did they succeed. Miranda Kerr - seen up the page there - was leading the way in the fashion stakes with a gorgeous salmon pink and black gown, but she was far from the only one making an impression. In what's turning into a busy week for them, Ashley Greene and Dakota Fanning travelled from Los Angeles, where they'd been attending the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 premiere with the rest of the cast, to appear. The travel seemed to have little effect on them though, both looking radiant as usual.

After their reckless marriage ceremony and the traumatic near-death-experience that was the birth of their daughter Renesmee in 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1', newly turned vampire Bella Swan and Edward Cullen think they have overcome the worst.
