FISH will find it "difficult to process the emotions" as he bids a fond farewell to gigging after more than four decades.

The former Marillion frontman will draw the curtain on his music career following the conclusion of his 'Road To The Isles' tour - which the majority of dates are sold-out - on Monday, March 10, as he retires and sets sail to the Outer Hebrides.

FISH - whose real name is Derek Dick and has been an enigmatic solo artist for the last 37 years - said: “It's going to be difficult to process the emotions involved but after the final Glasgow gig in March when I stand on the ferry heading over the sea to the Outer Hebrides and our new home, I will have the biggest smile on my face imaginable.

''In a few weeks’ time, I'll be standing on a stage in a sold-out Haddington Corn Exchange and remembering that this was where it all started with my solo career in 1989.

"It's going to be an emotional performance across these two nights which set up my final shows in the UK and the last section of the 'Road To The Isles' tour."

The 66-year-old singer-songwriter has just arrived back in the UK following a "very special" 32-day European leg of his tour, and he "can't remember enjoying" singing and performing as much as he did across the continent.

He added: "I had a fantastic time and achieved exactly what I set out to do.

"To leave behind powerful and emotive shows that would last a long time in the memories of fans."

FISH cannot wait to perform one last time across the UK - beginning on February 18 - and he is incredibly grateful for all the support and love he has received from fans for over 40 years.

The vocalist - who was in Marillion between 1981 and 1988 - admitted: “The UK nights are going to be awesome indeed with every venue holding something unique and promising so much for everyone both on and off stage.

"To be retiring on this wave is a wonderful feeling, and I cannot adequately express how much this all means to me after over 40 years in the music business performing on stages across the world.

FISH is also delighted to announce a special supporting artist for his shows at the London Palladium on Tuesday, February 25 and Aylesbury Waterside on Friday, February 28.

He will be joined at these performances by indie-folk singer-songwriter Alissimon, daughter of William 'Diz' Minnitt, the original Marillion bassist.

FISH and Diz met in 1980 before they travelled to Aylesbury and joined Marillion in January 1981.

They parted ways in March 1982, six months before Marillion signed to EMI, however, Diz has co-writing credits on five of the songs on the first Marillion album 'Script for a Jesters Tear'.

FISH said: "I've been aware of Alissimon through my long-time friend Diz who needless to say is a proud father and fine publicist for his likeminded musician daughter ... When I was asked to find a support act for a couple of the shows, I thought it could be a fine circle to bring to a close by providing Alissimons’ obvious talent with this opportunity to perform on two of the most prestigious stages on my farewell UK tour.

"I'm sure she will revel in the spotlight and captivate my audience who I'm sure will appreciate her voice and songwriting on these special performances.”
