Chris Pratt, in a recent interview, explained how he felt about being overweight and how he became determined to make a change. The 35-year-old actor has undergone an incredible physical transformation over the past two years. He was well known for his role in Parks and Recreation as the loveable – and slightly overweight – Andy but he was considerably trimmer for his starring role in Guardians of the Galaxy, which was filmed two years ago. He looks even physically fitter in the trailer for the upcoming Jurassic World.

Pratt was interviewed for the Men’s Health UK and described the moment he decided to do something about his weight.

"I was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed. I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way," Pratt revealed. "It's bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit."

Pratt also explained how he felt his popularity as a comic actor was reliant to some extent on his weight. He cited his role in Parks and Recreation as a prime example. He was constantly losing weight for film roles only to have to put it back on. Pratt lost weight for the 2011 film Moneyball but had to put it back on again for Parks and Rec because, as he claims, he was “funnier” being larger for Andy.

"I saw myself in an episode [of Parks and Recreation] and in the matter of two moments very close together, I thought, 'Oh my God, I'm getting fat.' And then almost immediately I did something else and I thought, 'Holy crap, I've never seen myself funnier.' And I put the two together," Pratt revealed in the interview.

Pratt stars in the soon-to-be-released Jurassic World. The film is due to be released in the UK on 11th June and in the USA on 12th June.
