With a ‘Welcome to Dashville’ sign hanging above the stage, Dasha wasted no time in bringing the country vibes to Birmingham.

Performing at the city’s Utilita Arena on October 7, the Nashville-born artist delivered singalongs aplenty during a 45-minute support slot opening for headliner Kane Brown.

Despite her band having walked on to a rather subdued crowd, the electric guitar riffs, fiddle playing and pounding drums soon woke everyone up; the live instruments added a galloping energy to the night, too, particularly songs like Memo

Alongside showcasing her impressive vocal range on fan favourites Not At This Party and Like It Like That - which really came to life on stage - Dasha looked every bit the star as she paired black cowboy boots with a tassel leather jacket.

While her mid-song banter helped to win the crowd over - especially as she joked about her initial Americanised pronunciation of “Birming-ham!” - she was relatable and vulnerable at other points.

Before playing Way Too Drunk on her acoustic guitar, she asked “I know it’s a Tuesday, but what’s the vibe? Are we drinking tonight?” Of course, beer cups were raised in the air in response.

Later, she explained the story behind Oh Anna!: “I lost myself a little bit, in all the comments,” she reflected of the whirlwind success that followed her 2024 viral breakthrough hit Austin (which brought her performance to a cathartic close).

“I lost the fearless little girl that didn’t give a f***, and I wanted to write a song for her,” she said before demonstrating the raw power of her voice.

Seconds later, the vibe had totally switched with a cover of Gretchen Wilson’s Here for the Party, during which she lent the spotlight to her fiddle player and guitarist.

A closing one-two of Bye Bye Bye - which had the audience waving with Dasha - and “the song that changed my life” (the aforementioned Austin (Boots Stop Workin’) made for a fitting finale.

The latter had those still seated up on their feet dancing as she encouraged the arena to ”sing so loud that my ex can hear us back in Texas”.

Having then climbed off the runway and leaned over the barrier to get up close with those on the front row, Dasha certainly left a lasting impression on the audience. After blowing some kisses and taking a bow with her band, her job was done and she was off.

Dasha’s brief but winning visit to the Midlands proved she's one to watch in country.
