Lorde has vowed not to leave fans waiting another four years for her next album.

The Green Light hitmaker returned in June with her fourth studio LP Virgin, the follow-up to 2021's Solar Power.

In a new interview, Lorde insists she doesn't envisage needing to "take a break from being creative" anytime soon and she is excited to see what direction her music takes next.

She told Variety: “I mean, I’m excited to find out.

“I’m definitely feeling very active and not needing a break from being creative. I’m feeling kind of insatiable, to be honest. So I don’t know, but I’ve thrown the gauntlet down that it’s not going to be four years [again], so I’ve gotta keep to that.”

Lorde bared all about gender fluidity, trauma and self-discovery on Virgin.

Regarding her gender identity, on the track Hammer - which the singer described as “an ode to city life and horniness" - Lorde declared: "Some days I'm a woman, some days I'm a man."

On her website, Lorde dubbed Hammer - which she penned with Jim E-Stack (Caroline Polachek, Haim and Dominic Fike) - the "sound of my rebirth".

Lorde previously admitted she doesn't identify with the person she depicted on Solar Power.

Appearing on Therapuss with Jake Shane, she said: “I love Solar Power so much, and I truly needed to make it.

“I wouldn’t be here with another album if I hadn’t made Solar Power. But it showed me that you have no choice but to be who you’re supposed to be.

“Me disappearing and being all wafty… I was like ‘actually, I don’t think this is me.’”
