'Grown Ups 2' & 'After Earth' Lead The Way In 34th Razzie Award Nominations - Full List Of Nominees

  • 16 January 2014

It's awards season, which means it is the time when the stars of Hollywood gather together to congratulate themselves on another successful year of moviemaking. It is also the period when some of Hollywood's more questionable tastes are exposed and then routinely mocked, thanks to the annual Golden Raspberry Awards.

All of the Grown Ups 2 cast are up for an award, but it is Sandler who earns the most recognition

An established 'favourite' with the Razzies committee, Adam Sandler is up for his 19th, 20th and 21st Razzie nomination and might make it three Worst Actor wins in a row, with his role in Grown Ups 2 up against Johnny Depp in The Lone Ranger, Ashton Kutcher in Jobs, Jaden Smith in After Earth and Sylvester Stallone for pretty much all of his movies from 2013; Bullet to the Head, Escape Plan, and Grudge Match.

Sandler's Grown Ups 2 leads the way in Razzie nominations, also being nominated for Worst Movie, Worst Supporting Actor for Taylor Lautner, Worst Supporting Actress for Salma Hayek, Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel, Worst Director for Dennis Dugan. Sandler earns two more nominations for his work on the screenplay with Tim Herlihy and Fred Wolf and for the rest of the cast, who all all nominated for Worst Screen Combo.

After Earth gets recognised considerably too, with Jaden Smith's Worst Actor nod being joined by nominations for Worst Picture, Worst Supporting Actor for Will Smith, Worst Screen Combo for the father and son team, Worst Director for M. Night Shyamalan and Worst Screenplay for Shyamalan, Gary Whitta and the elder Smith.

Another firm favourite with the Razzies committee has to be Lindsay Lohan, who earns three nominations to go with her already stained resume. Her role in The Canyons has earned her a Worst Actress nod and both of her roles in InAPPropriate Comedy and Scary Movie 5, both films where she plays a version of herself, have managed to secure her a Worst Supporting Actress nomination. She is up for Worst Screen Combo with Charlie Sheen for Scary Movie 5.

Lohan's star turn in The Canyons has won her further recognition from the Razzies

Hoping not to have to see their names among the nominees list again (assumably) are first time nominees Selena Gomez and Lady GaGa, who earned themselves a Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actress respectively. Gomez's lead role in the panned Getaway has earned her her first recognition from the Razzies committee, whilst Gaga's brief appearance in Machette Kills is up for Worst Supporting Actress. Surprisingly, this is the only nomination for Machette Kills, which failed to make the grade for the Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel category.

Unsurprisingly however is the fact that Tyler Perry's 2013 filmography has received its fair share of recognition from the Razzies, earning him four individual nominations to add to a total of seven nominations for his films A Madea Christmas and Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor. For her 'breakout' movie role in Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, Kim Kardashian wins her first ever Razzie nomination, whilst Perry is up for Worst Actress, Worst Director (for both films), Worst Screenplay (for Madea) and Worst Screen Combo with Larry the Cable Guy or his worn out wig and dress. Larry the Cable Guy is also up for Worst Supporting Actor.

The 'winners' will be announced during the awards ceremony held in Los Angeles on 1 March, 2014
