This is 1 time I MUST disagree w/ Michael. When I heard about "Hook", I always thought that Michael would've been the PERFECT choice. When it went to Robin Williams I was disappointed. (Not that I don't love him, Robin Williams is BRILLIANT, but I just thought Michael would've been better.) Michael was so entwined w/ Peter Pan, that he could not see the obvious... that change is good & this is about the rediscovery of a human being's childlike heart. On top of that... I ALWAYS wanted to see Michael as a straight up ACTOR. Seeing him in The Wiz was never enough. And films like Moonwalker & Ghost were fun, but to me they were what they truly are-- extended music videos. As an actor myself, I wanted to see what would happen if Michael auditioned for a role & got it, & made it his own, without the usual techniques that makes Michael's later films what they were... an extension of his music. I always wanted to see Michael JUST ACT. I'm so sorry that this will never come true. & I'm even sorrier that he turned down this roll. I ALWAYS KNEW in my heart that it should have went to him.

I saw the movie and Robin Wms. was ok. Michael would have made the perfect Peter Pan though, because who knows more about the subject, but if it was NOT written the proper way then MJ's decision was valid. These people want to write books or make movies about a certain subjects, but they want to put their own spin on everything. Good for MJ.

It's so pity If Michael had played that role , I am sure he would have been an awesome to played Peter Pan,Michael was Peter Pan in heart. It's so shame they didn' agree .Michael was just perfect for this role.

And it was a brilliant move on Michael's part to decline the role since it did not match his vision. I didn't see the movie, but I clearly recall that the reviews were terrible. But why are we talking about this now--20 years later?

And it was a wonderful movie and a different take on the story.
