Coldplay has announced 'A Film for the Future'.

The "visual companion" to their worldwide number-one album 'Moon Music' was created by a team of over 150 different visual artists from 45 countries, and it will launch on YouTube on January 22.

The band said: "We're very grateful to all the amazing artists who lent their genius to this film.

"They've created something very beautiful, and we're extremely proud of it."

Each artist was given a handful of music snippets from 'Moon Music' and asked to create corresponding visuals - without any rules or guidance, and no knowledge of other artists' creations.

Executive producer Ben Mor, who directed the rock band - formed of Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion - and Beyoncé in 2016's 'Hymn for the Weekend' video hailed it as "a kaleidoscopic patchwork quilt - a 44-minute multimedia tapestry".

He added: "It was a huge privilege to have the bird's eye view of such an ambitious project, working with so many incredible animators and filmmakers all working independently of each other.

"The final film is simply jaw-dropping, and I can’t wait for Coldplay’s fans to see it."

As well as being available to watch worldwide, fans can enjoy the film at a limited run of exclusive 360-degree screenings at Lightroom London, Lightroom at Factory International at Aviva Studios, Manchester and Lightroom Seoul.

In each venue, state-of-the-art audio technology and 11m high projection across four walls, and the floor will allow fans to be fully immersed in the visual and audio experience.

To accompany the project, the band has also partnered with Microsoft to create an AI-powered A Film For The Future remix experience, launching on January 22 at afftf.coldplay.com, that lets fans interact with the film uniquely.

Microsoft Copilot and Azure AI analysed the full film, including the detailed context of each video clip, and the site dynamically assembled them to create an immersive experience for each user.

No two results are the same, allowing every fan to contribute to the ongoing remix of the film.

Tickets for the Lightroom screenings are available to purchase now here.
