The singer is casting off her 'Best Of Both Worlds' image because she '...Can't Stop' enjoying life as a twenty-year-old
Miley Cyrus really wants to cast off the shackles that being a Disney princess put her in, with the singer becoming increasingly more 'mature' with her musical output and with what she says in interviews. Sorry to break it to you Cyrus, but whenever you say that you smoke weed or enjoy partying your not making yourself stand-out as a rebellious twenty-something, you're just acting like any other person your age.
Speaking with Rolling Stone this week, the singer and actress said, "I think alcohol is way more dangerous than marijuana -- people can be mad at me for saying that, but I don't care," going on to argue, "I've seen a lot of people spiral down with alcohol, but I've never seen that happen with weed."
A valid and - given the increased about of pro-weed legislation floating around American politics - relevant comment to be making at the current time, however her new direction has understandably generated a backlash against the singer and her new single 'We Can't Stop,' with some commenting that she is beginning to isolate and could prove to be a bad influence on some of her younger fans. Still the Hannah Montana star was quick to defend herself in the interview, saying, "I can't sing 'We Can't Stop' and then be some shy, closed-off person. The reason I never really loved acting was because you can't be yourself. I don't want to be an actor -- I want to be an artist."

In her interview Cyrus went on to discuss who she is now concentrating on furthering her career even further and expanding her horizons as an artist. Stepping into dancier territory for her new single, Cyrus is well on her way to becoming a multi-facetted star and having already appeared on a track with Snoop Dogg/Lion, we could see her flirting with hip-hop and other musical styles in the near future.
Of course, the interview couldn't have gone by without mentioning Liam Hemsworth, her on-again-off-again fiancé who, last time we checked, was still seeing Miley on the side having recently ended their engagement. Clearly still a little choked up with the split, she told the interviewer bluntly, "I wear a ring every single day. I don't talk about my personal life, so that's enough of an answer."
Her interview appears in the July edition of Rolling Stone, which will be available in store by July 4.
