Fox Have No Plans For 'The X-Files' Season 12 Without Gillian Anderson

It would seem 'The X-Files' is over because of Gillian Anderson's decision not to return to the series.
Fox have officially announced that they have no plans to move forward with a 12th season of 'The X-Files'. The news comes a few months after Gillian Anderson confirmed she would not be returning to the series after season 11 as Dana Scully. Creator Chris Carter said at the time he could imagine the show continuing without her, but it would seem the series' home network Fox disagree.
CEO and co-chairman at Fox, Gary Newman broke the news during a conference call with media, where he said "there are no plans to do another season at the moment." Note the final three words, which mean the series hasn't been ruled out completely!

Gillian Anderson Leaving 'The X-Files' Could Provide New Storylines

There will be no Scully in the future of the show, at least physically.
'The X-Files' without Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully isn't something that a vocal portion of the fan base thinks can work. Unfortunately for those very people, Anderson has confirmed that she will be leaving the series following the latest season, despite those working behind-the-scenes on the show and at FOX hoping she would have stuck with the show. So just how will the sci-fi series survive without Scully if it's to continue on into the future?
There are a number of avenues the series could go down and fortunately, series creator Chris Carter already has some ideas floating around if he and the rest of the bosses working on the show decide to move forward with new episodes.

Gillian Anderson Explains Why She's Quitting 'The X Files'

Anderson explained her reasoning behind her recent decision to quit 'The X Files' after its current 11th season.
Having played the character that established her career on and off for a quarter of a century, Gillian Anderson has revealed her reasoning behind her decision to call the current series of ‘The X Files’ her last.
The English-born American actress has played the role of Dana Scully in the sci-fi thriller series since 1993, opposite David Duchovny’s Fox Mulder. She elected to return to reprise that role in 2016 with Fox’s limited run revival series, but has apparently only opted to stay on for a second season because she was “curious”.
“Why? There’s lots of things I want to do in my life and in my career,” she explained to reporters at the Television Critics’ Association winter press tour this week about her decision to quit. “It’s been an extraordinary character, but there’s lots of things to do and I don’t want to be tied down doing one thing.”

Gillian Anderson Won't Return For 'American Gods' Season 2

Back in 2001, Neil Gaiman released one of his most celebrated novels of his career with 'American Gods', introducing some of the most intriguing and compelling characters to the world. When it was revealed that the story would finally be adapted for the small screen on Starz, fans couldn't have been more excited. When people like Gillian Anderson and Ian McShane were brought on board to star, the level of excitement only grew.
Towards the end of 2017, it was revealed that the show's first season showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green had departed the series completely, though they were thought to have finished their writing on the scripts for the upcoming batch of episodes. Now it's been reported that they're not the only major figures who have left the show.

Gillian Anderson Confirms The New 'X-Files' Season Is Her Last

Whether the show could survive without her is another topic altogether!
Gillian Anderson has confirmed that the upcoming new series of 'The X-Files' will be the final one she returns for, bringing her role as Dana Scully to an end when all is said and done on the new batch of episodes. Whether that means the series will close with the eleventh season however remains to be seen.
10 new episodes make up the new season, that will see Scully continue on in her professional partnership with Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) in tracking down some of the strangest conspiracies, aliens and more. The formula is one that works and one that the series has stuck to throughout its run, all whilst doing its bit to reinvent the genre so that viewers don't find the episodes stale.

Viceroy's House Review
Very Good
Filmmaker Gurinder Chada (Bend It Like Beckham) draws on her own family history to explore the events surrounding the 1947 independence and partition of India. The real history is far more complex and violent than any film could adequately capture, so Chadha relies on two parallel plots that touch on varied experiences. In the end, the film is lively and enjoyable, with a strong sense of humour and some romantic surges that help the story resonate.
As Britain plans to leave India after three centuries of colonial rule, Lord Mountbatten (Hugh Bonneville) arrives in Delhi as the last viceroy, accompanied by his wife Edwina (Gillian Anderson), who takes particular interest in the process, and their daughter Pamela (Lily Travers). Unlike previous rulers, they take a real interest in the local culture, so they know how difficult it will be to avoid bloodshed between clashing Hindu, Muslim and Sikh communities. Meanwhile in their house, Hindu guard Jeet (Manish Dayal) is in love with Muslim maid Aalia (Huma Qureshi), wondering if they can to have a life together in a divided nation.
The romantic storyline is a nice counterbalance to the larger political machinations and violent cultural struggles. The way it highlights the issues is rather heavy-handed, but Dayal and Qureshi are charming enough to hold the audience's attention, and where they go isn't as obvious as it seems. Alongside them, Bonneville and Anderson sparkle with wit, stirring some comic relief into even the most intense negotiations. They also nicely play their characters as people of compassion and empathy, a nice contrast to the callous self-interested British diplomats who don't care who gets hurt in the fallout. Somewhere in between are well-meaning roles for acting icons Michael Gambon (as the chief of staff) and Simon Callow (as the man responsible for drawing the line between India and Pakistan).

Filming on BBC drama ‘The Fall’ has begun in Belfast, with stars Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson confirmed as returning for a third series. Dornan will be back as serial killer Paul Spector, who was last seen laying wounded in the arms of Superintendent Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson) after being shot in the final episode of series two.
Show creator, Allan Cubitt, said he was "thrilled to have recently started filming the third instalment of their macabre, obsessive dance of death”. "Gillian and Jamie have lived and breathed those characters during that time and I've been incredibly well-served as both writer and director by their stellar performances”.

Fox has released a full-length trailer for the upcoming mini-series of ‘The X-Files’.
The new X-FILES trailer isn’t giving much away about the upcoming series but it certainly suggests they’ll be high drama with explosions, military involvement and some pretty intense exchanges between agents Mulder and Scully.

The X-Files Reunited: Gillian Anderson Joins David Duchovny Onstage For Duet In NYC

The actors will soon be reprising their ‘X-Files’ roles in a new Fox limited series.
‘X-Files’ fans got a special treat last night at David Duchovny's Cutting Room gig in New York, as the actor and now singer was joined onstage by his co-star Gillian Anderson. Anderson joined Duchovny for a rendition of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young classic 'Helpless’ taken from the group’s 1970 album Déjà Vu.
The gig was in support of Duchovny’s debut album Hell Or Highwater, which he released yesterday. Early on in his set, Duchovny was also joined onstage by actress Madeleine Martin who played his daughter Becca on the Showtimes series ‘Californication’ from 2007 to 2014.
