Filming on BBC drama ‘The Fall’ has begun in Belfast, with stars Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson confirmed as returning for a third series. Dornan will be back as serial killer Paul Spector, who was last seen laying wounded in the arms of Superintendent Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson) after being shot in the final episode of series two.

Show creator, Allan Cubitt, said he was "thrilled to have recently started filming the third instalment of their macabre, obsessive dance of death”. "Gillian and Jamie have lived and breathed those characters during that time and I've been incredibly well-served as both writer and director by their stellar performances”.

"Obviously I don't want to give anything away about how the third series will end but I can say that I am looking forward to working with both Gillian and Jamie again in the near future!”

In a statement, the BBC added: ‘As The Fall’ reaches its inexorable conclusion, it’s clear that the rules of this deadly game of cat and mouse are set to shift once again.' 

For the third series Anderson and Dornan will be joined by a host of new faces, including Swedish actor Krister Henriksson, best known for playing Kurt Wallander in the Swedish version of the crime series.

Also joining the cast are, Aidan McArdle (‘Mr Selfridge’), Ruth Bradley (‘Humans’), Aisling Bea (‘Trollied') and Richard Coyle (‘Coupling’). An air date for the third series is yet to be announced.
