Tupac Immortalised In Wax
TUPAC SHAKUR is to be immortalised in wax in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the rap legend was shot dead a decade ago. The new Venetian Hotel sculpture, which will be unveiled next month (05APR06), will be part of a new TUPAC ETERNAL exhibition. The waxed Tupac is currently being sculpted by JENI FAIREY of The Tussauds Studio. Fairey recently turned BEYONCE KNOWLES into a waxwork for Madame Tussauds museum in London. Shakur's sculpture will be based on the now-iconic image of a shirtless Tupac sporting a bandana and proudly displaying his tattoos. The wax figure has been created from hundreds of photographs and measurements provided to Madame Tussauds by the rap star's mother AFENI SHAKUR. Each of Tupac's tattoos will have been redrawn and individually hand-painted onto the sculpture. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Tupac's death, Madame Tussauds is considering sending the new wax figure on a world tour later this year (06). As well as appearing at galleries in New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai and London, the Tupac waxwork will also be exhibited at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Atlanta, Georgia.
