'You get a story about Whitney Houston, Michael Bublé...' Emin was in awe of legendary producer David Foster when recording new LP
Azerbaijan popstar Emin recorded his new album Maybe Tomorrow with legendary producer David Foster and he enjoyed every minute of the process as the Canadian music maestro shared stories of the artists he has worked with.
Azerbaijan superstar Emin has described working with legendary producer David Foster as a “fantastic” experience, as recording in the studio offers him a rare insight into the lives of some of music’s biggest stars.
Canadian producer Foster, a 16-time Grammy winner, has produced records for iconic artists including the late Whitney Houston, Sir Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks, Paul Anka, Toni Braxton, Neil Diamon, Michael Bublé and many more.
Emin recorded his forthcoming album Maybe Tomorrow, with Foster said the opportunity to hear untold stories about Houston - who died in February 2012 aged 48 - was one of the highlights of their collaboration.
Speaking on Tuesday night (27.01.26) in London at the launch of his second album at at Nolita Social, Bulgari Hotel, Knightsbridge, he said: “Just being in the room with him is fantastic. You get a story about Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Michael Bublé. And he calls and FaceTimes right from the studio, sharing his experiences while we’re working on the tracks.”
The singer said that while the creative process is always challenging, it is also a joy to select songs from a large catalogue of favourites.
Continuing to speak at the launch, which was attended by Contact Music, he said: "Music is fun and choosing those songs - there is so many of them that I absolutely love. Finding 12 of them to go on the album is a challenge always and I love Tom Jones, Elvis Presley… I just love this music.”
Featuring 12 beautifully reimagined tracks, the album brings together timeless classics and contemporary favourites, with Foster’s unmistakable orchestral touch throughout. Maybe Tomorrow includes a series of special duets with Amanda Holden, The Corrs star Andrea Corr, Richard Marx and Sheila E.

The album’s first official single release, Somethin’ Stupid, is out now and features Emin duetting with Amanda Holden.
The iconic song was originally made famous by Frank Sinatra and his daughter Nancy Sinatra in 1967, and was later introduced to a new generation by Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman when they had a number one hit with the track in 2001.
Talking about why he wanted to sing that song with Amanda, Emin said: "Somethin’ Stupid is a song I’ve loved for years, and recording it with Amanda was incredibly special. She has such a natural warmth and honesty, it felt like the perfect way to introduce the album."
Celebrating the release of their duet, Amanda said: "I was thrilled to be asked to be part of this. I absolutely love singing. It’s where I started and it’s weird because my career took a completely different… I just went off on a tangent. I started in musical theatre, I went to drama school, that’s where my first love and everything was.
"So when I was asked to do this, there was absolutely no way I was gonna say no, because it's just any opportunity to sing, I’m thrilled."
