NBA all-star Dwyane Wade proposed to Hollywood actress Gabrielle Union this past Saturday (Dec 21st).

But the 31 year-old didn't do it alone, he enlisted the help of his two sons and nephew.

Wade has spoken out about his planned proposal and told the Associated Press how he shocked the unsuspecting Gabrielle.

His oldest son Zion held up a sign with 'Gabrielle Union' written on it, his nephew's sign read 'will you' and the final sign, held by his youngest son Zaire, said 'marry us?'

As the 'Bad Boyd 2' actress saw this, she turned to see her beau on one knee holding an impressive looking diamond ring.

"I planned it," Wade told AP. "No concrete for my knee. I planned it very well."

Wade also revealed that although a date has not yet been set, he expects the ceremony to take place around September 2014 and he had been searching for the perfect ring since October.

"I kind of know my lady," Wade said. "I know she's simple, but at the same time, I just wanted the rock to kind of speak for itself and not do too much with the diamonds. I think it's a simple ring, but it's nice. It was nicely done ... it's timeless."

The proposal occurred hours before the pair attended a Miami Heat Christmas party which enabled them to show the ring off to his teammates. 4-time MVP and good friend of Wade's, Lebron James, only had praises for his on-court brother.

"It took a lot for him to do it," said James. "But I think Gab is perfect for him. I think D-Wade is perfect for Gab. For them to be at one now and for their whole family to come together, man, I think it's amazing. It's another step for him. I thought it was pretty cool. I'm all for it. I'm happy for them."

The couple announced their news to the world by posting a photo on their Instagram accounts of Wade caressing her hand, Union's caption read, "Sooooo this happened... #Yessss."

Congratulations to the happy couple.
