The Flaming Lips And Fwends Rework Sgt. Pepper's

Rock oddballs The Flaming Lips have released more details about their upcoming charity album. It's a track-by-track tribute album to The Beatles' 1967 classic Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, regarded by many to be the most influential pop record ever released.

Entitled With A Little Help From My Fwends, the Lips bring their unique style to proceedings with assistance from a host of collaborators including members of MGMT, Moby, My Morning Jacket, Foxygen, Tegan & Sara, Phantogram, J Mascis (of Dinosaur Jr.) and Miley Cyrus.

Yes, that's right. A Miley collaboration with Lips is one of the most gloriously unlikely musical hook-ups ever, and she appears on the cover of 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' and briefly on the closer 'A Day In The Life'.

With A Little Help From My Fwends is released on October 28th in the US through Warner Bros., and on November 3rd in the UK on Bella Union. All proceeds from sales will be donated to the Bella Foundation, a non-profit organisation from the Lips' hometown Oklahoma City that helps low-income, elderly and terminally ill pet owners with the costs of veterinary care.

Keen followers of The Flaming Lips will know that this is the second such tribute album they've recorded. In 2009, they released a similar collaborative effort covering Pink Floyd's seminal 1973 album Dark Side of The Moon with the assistance of Peaches, former Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins and fellow Oklahomans Stardeath and White Dwarfs. They then released an album earlier this year called Flaming Side of the Moon, intended to be a companion piece to be played at exactly the same time as the Floyd original.
