Washington Called For Sex Scene Cuts?

  • 28 April 2004

OSCAR winner [Denzel Washington](https://www.contactmusic.com/denzel-washington) has denied reports he insisted a love scene be cut from his new film [Man on Fire](https://www.contactmusic.com/man-on-fire), because he was concerned about the interracial relationship.

Despite reports Washington was worried about the reaction from his female black fans to his sex scenes with PHONE BOOTH star [Radha Mitchell](https://www.contactmusic.com/radha-mitchell), the actor's representative insists his client would not have asked for the cuts.

However, [Julia Roberts](https://www.contactmusic.com/julia-roberts) claimed Washington asked for their love scenes to be cut from 1993's PELICAN BRIEF, and the star was also said to have asked for similar scenes with [Mimi Rogers](https://www.contactmusic.com/mimi-rogers) to be edited out from 1989's THE MIGHTY QUINN after black women howled their disapproval during test screenings.

A representative for MAN ON FIRE makers [Fox](https://www.contactmusic.com/fox) 2000 PICTURES told THE SCOOP website, "I don't think there was any agenda. And if there was, I probably wouldn't tell you."
