Alex Pettyfer is hoping for multiple sequels of 'I Am Number Four'.

The British actor explained he would love to play his character John Smith again and again if his latest film were to become a franchise.

He said: "I would play him over and over and over again. I just hope people go and watch this movie and really enjoy it and help us get to make a second, third, fourth, so we can see where all these characters can go."

In the sci-fi thriller, the 20-year-old star portrays John, who is one of a handful of survivors of an alien race with special powers who now reside on Earth, while 'Glee' actress Dianna Agron - Alex's rumoured off-screen girlfriend - features as his high school love interest.

Earlier this month, he explained he loves his character's "normality".

He said: "I think it's the story of John, he is this unique character and he's reluctant to be a hero. We haven't seen that in a while.

"Give any 20-year-old kid superpowers and I'm sure none of them would deny that they would want to use them and I find it very intriguing that someone like John just wants normality."
