Jessica Simpson is taking vegan cooking classes to impress her fiance.

The 30-year-old singer and actress - who announced her engagement to former NFL player Eric Johnson in November - has invested in a number of cookery books and is learning how to whip up animal product-free culinary delights at the Madeleine Bistro in Tarzana, California.

However, it would appear this is a new passion as the blonde beauty's ex-husband Nick Lachey - who Jessica divorced in 2006 after four years of marriage - didn't benefit from her domestic skills.

A source told National Enquirer magazine: "Jessica is determined to be more of a domestic goddess this time in regards to her marriage.

"She hardly ever prepared meals when she and ex-hubby Nick Lachey were together."

It could be the 'Public Affair' hitmaker is honing her skills to prepare for a family with her new fiance, as she recently admitted she is keen to have kids with Eric.

Jessica said: "I definitely see myself having a family with Eric, so that's exciting to think about."
