The Wonder Stuff announce 40th Anniversary UK Tour with Inspiral Carpets as special guests
The Wonder Stuff will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a 16‑date UK tour in October and December 2026, performing career‑spanning sets with Inspiral Carpets joining as special guests.
The Wonder Stuff will mark their 40th anniversary with a major UK tour in late 2026.
The 16‑date run will see the alt‑rock favourites revisit cities across the country before closing with a celebratory night at London’s Brixton Academy on December 8.
The tour begins on October 1 in Newcastle and includes stops in Manchester, Sheffield, Brighton, Bournemouth, Margate, Glasgow, Cardiff, Leeds, Leicester, Scarborough, Norwich, Lincoln, Wolverhampton and Liverpool.
Each show will feature a full career‑spanning set from the band’s long‑standing line‑up: Miles Hunt, Malc Treece, Erica Nockalls, Mark Gemini Thwaite, Tim Sewell and Pete Howard. Fans can expect a run of classic singles and favourites including Unbearable, A Wish Away, Caught In My Shadow, Size of a Cow and Don’t Let Me Down, Gently.
Joining them as very special guests are Inspiral Carpets, one of the defining bands of the late‑’80s and early‑’90s Madchester scene.
The group, who scored a string of indie and chart hits including Find Out Why, Move and This Is How It Feels, say they are “looking forward to hitting the road” and promise a set packed with their signature garage‑pop anthems.
Reflecting on the milestone, frontman Miles Hunt said the band remain deeply grateful to the audiences who have supported them since their formation in 1986.
He said: “When Malc Treece and I stepped into The Wonder Stuff’s first rehearsal on March 19th 1986, I wonder what our thoughts might have been if we knew that we would be fortunate enough to still be playing gigs together some 40 years later.
“It shall be our absolute honour to get up on stage this year and play as many of the old faves as we can. We are blessed.”
Formed in the Birmingham/Black Country area, The Wonder Stuff became one of the UK’s most prominent alternative bands, releasing four Top 20 albums between 1988 and 1993 and scoring thirteen Top 40 singles, including collaborations with Kirsty MacColl and a Number One hit with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer on Dizzy.
After disbanding in 1994, the group reunited in 2000 and have since released five studio albums, most recently 2016’s Better Than Being Lucky.
