Lizzo didn't lose her virginity until she won a Grammy in 2020 after making a vow
Lizzo has revealed she remained a virgin until 2020 after vowing she wouldn’t have sex until she won a Grammy.
Lizzo has made one of her most personal confessions yet — admitting she didn’t lose her virginity until she was in her 30s, after promising herself she wouldn’t have sex until she’d won a Grammy.
The 37‑year‑old star opened up on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, revealing she kept the truth hidden for years because she felt “embarrassed” about being a late bloomer.
She said: “I lied about it for a long time.
“Can I just tell you the year? 2020. Isn’t that crazy? I promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy.”
When asked whether she would’ve stuck to the vow if she hadn’t won, Lizzo laughed: “Who knows?”
The singer famously scooped three Grammys in 2020 — Best Pop Solo Performance for Truth Hurts, Best Urban Contemporary Album for Cuz I Love You (Deluxe) and Best Traditional R'n'B Performance for Jerome.
But she insisted she didn’t celebrate by immediately breaking her promise.
She clarified: “It was not the night of the Grammys."
Lizzo said finally telling the truth felt like a huge relief.
She admitted: “I feel a weight off my chest."
The Juice hitmaker recalled the moment years ago when friends confronted her about it: “We were all girling one night and they were like, ‘Wait, Lizzo, are you a virgin?’ It was so embarrassing. I said: ‘I love the D.’ I said that. And it held me over for a little while.”
The singer also opened up about her relationship with comedian and actor Myke Wright, revealing they first met back in 2016 while working on MTV’s Wonderland, but didn’t start dating until 2021.
She said: “We stayed in touch.
“We weren’t dating back then… I was kind of a brat. But we started dating in 2021.”
