Justin Bieber Lookalike Tobias Strebel Died From "Multiple Drug Intoxication"

Authorities have concluded that a man who spent $100,000 on plastic surgery in an attempt to look like Justin Bieber died from a drug overdose, after an official investigation into his death last year.

On Tuesday (July 26th), nearly a full year after his death, Entertainment Tonight revealed the conclusion of a coroner’s report into the death of 35 year old Tobias Strebel, who also went by the name of Toby Sheldon and who appeared on television to tell of his obsession with altering his appearance, died of “multiple drug intoxication”.

The aspiring singer-songwriter was reported missing in August 2015 before being found in a motel room in North Hills, Los Angeles a few days later. He had Valium, Xanax, sleep aid temazepam and alcohol in his system, according to an autopsy report from the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, but no foul play was presumed and the overdose was ruled as accidental.

There were other prescription drugs in his hotel room, including acetaminophen/hydrocodone (a substance similar to Vicodin), plus syringes and a bottle of insulin, when he was found.

The LAPD said in its initial statements at the time that German-born Strebel’s disappearance might have been triggered by a recent break-up with his boyfriend.

Strebel spent many years pursuing facial surgery in order to look more like the 22 year old Canadian pop star, before appearing on a couple of TV shows, such as E!’s docu-series ‘Botched’ and TLC’s ‘My Strange Addiction’, to explain what motivated him to do it.

“What brought me to Bieber was the whole package: the full cheeks, the full temples, the bright open eyes, the full luscious lips, and facial framing… he's just extraordinarily beautiful,” he told ‘Botched’ in January 2014.
