Legendary American singer songwriter Billy Joel is set to release 'A Matter of Trust: The Bridge to Russia', a CD and DVD of Joel's historic 1987 tour to soviet Russia, which is out Tuesday, May 20, 2014 via Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings.

In the 1980's Joel was building a legacy for himself with classic albums and huge hits, but like much of American culture he was unknown to Russia at that time. Joel's tour of soviet Russia, saw him become one of the first American rock acts to play Russia, during the cold war. When starting the tour, the Russian's were not initially pleased with his performances, not being used to rock concerts let alone such energetic ones Joel was known for. Soon enough though when Russians who decided they didn't like the music, passed on their tickets to younger fans, the younger fans charged the stage with excitement. Even security guards supposedly got involved with the crowd's antics, and in that celebration there was hope that the tension of the cold war could decline.

The entire tour was professionally filmed and the concerts were simulcast on radio worldwide, and will soon be available to view once again now nearly three decades on. This is a must for any Billy Joel obsessive, as it sees the great artist, make history, by helping to bring down boarders between two cultures.
