It has been eight years since Harvey Dent was killed, during the Joker's killing spree. Billionaire Bruce Wayne accepted responsibility for Dent's death and left Gotham. The city has now recovered from the shocking events and is living in peace.

While Bruce is attending a ball, he is accosted by a beautiful woman, Selina Kyle. As they dance, she gives Bruce a chilling prediction: soon, the tables will turn on Gotham. This unnerves Bruce, who returns to his mansion in the city and to his faithful butler, Alfred, who regrets not protecting Bruce as a young boy.

Elsewhere in the city, a football game is held at the Gotham Giants' stadium. A young boy steps up to perform the National Anthem and it looks like nothing can go wrong. But just minutes into the game, the pitch starts to collapse in on itself, taking every player except the receiver and leaving the fans horrified.

That disaster was the work of Bane, a powerful villain who wears a mask. He intends to bring down Batman once and for all, with the help of Catwoman - whose real name is Selina Kyle.

Bruce must, once again, don his Batman disguise and bring down a new team of villains who intend to destroy Gotham - but can he survive this time?
