Selfridges will pay tribute to the 'Masters' of fashion.
The iconic department store's AW14 campaign, entitled 'The Masters', will honour the world's most successful designers by declaring each individual the forerunner of a unique aesthetic.
Each of the 12 designers will take over a window of the chain's London mega-store on Oxford Street with their own signature display and will create their own limited edition 'Masterpiece' reflecting their aesthetic, which will be available to buy.
Selfridges said in a statement: ''Champions of their craft and true fashion icons, our forthcoming campaign celebrates 12 of fashion's most accomplished designers.
''From exclusive archival pieces to bespoke fashion films, get ready to discover our tribute to fashion's most successful.''
Azzedine Alaïa has been awarded 'The Master of Architecture' title, Dries Van Noten is 'The Master of the Eclectic', Jean Paul Gaultier has been named 'The Master of Expression', while Jun Takahaski of Undercover, has been labelled 'The Master of Subversion', reports Marie Claire magazine.
To complete the line-up, California-born Rick Owens - 'Master of the Elements' - is also creating a 20-piece, ready-to-wear, capsule collection for the store's men's and women's departments to celebrate his 20th anniversary in the industry.
The store will also house a 25ft statue of the 51-year-old on its famous canopy.
