Colombian pop sensation Shakira has made history thanks to her HIPS DON'T LIE collaboration with WYCLEF JEAN - the tune has become the most played pop song in US radio history. The catchy track has become a must-play on most pop radio stations across America and last week (ends02JUN06) broadcasting statisticians at Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems declared the song was played more times in one week than any other. The track beat out the previous record by Gwen Stefani's HOLLABACK GIRL for the same week last year (JUN05). Shakira's hit was played 9,657 times, according to the radio listeners at Nielsen. Earlier this year (06) Shakira became the first artist in the history of the charts to earn the coveted number one spots on both the Top 40 Mainstream Latin Chart in the same week.
