A seventh Snow Patrol album is nearer than we thought!

Contactmusic interviewed Gary Lightbody's side-project Tired Pony recently, and the Snow Patrol frontman revealed we may not have long to wait for a new Snow Patrol offering.

When it came to talking about the next Tired Pony album, Lightbody stated that 'there's a while to wait' as there may not be time for one in the near future. 'If Snow Patrol release an album next year [2015], which we probably will, and then tour for it....' he told us, while weighing up the chances of a Tired Pony release in the next few years.

Tired Pony Take 'Stripped Down' To A New Level

Tired Pony's recent gig at Bushmills Live 2014 was meant to be a focussed, 'stripped down' affair. It wasn't.

Despite having only ever played 'like 5 shows and 4 TV shows' and not having 'had the same line up at any of them', Tired Pony have honed their own take on 'stripped down' sets.

Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol) and Peter Buck (R.E.M) of Tired Pony recently took the time to talk to Contact Music, ahead of their appearance at Bushmills festival (June 12th 2014). Buck explained about their take on playing an acoustic set, saying it's 'more focussed' and by having less layers it makes it more possible to 'feel the emotions of the songs and let the songs breathe'. This doesn't mean that Tired Pony are going down the usual acoustic route; their onstage ensemble is still consisting of 12 people which, by most standards, would be a rather elaborate set-up but Gary was quick to point out that the number and style is still 'stripped down' for them.

Tired Pony - Interview

Walking into a surreal conversation about American spy channels and the Illuminati, Contact Music spoke to Gary Lightbody and Peter Buck of Tired Pony before their afternoon set at Bushmills Live. What did we learn? Expect a third Tired Pony album, juggling and close up hand magic at their shows, and a "big" Snow Patrol album that will aim for "the far reaches of the universe" next year.

Bushmills Live 2014 Featuring Tired Pony, The 1975 & Much More Review

The 1975 might have been billed as the main event at Bushmills Live 2014, but it was Tired Pony who stole the show at the intimate old whiskey distillery.

Fine drizzle swirled through the air as a select group of 700 competition winners funnelled their way through the entrance to the Bushmills Live festival.

But with free whiskey, free food and an enticing line-up ahead, the lucky few who had been granted admission to the exclusive festival showed no sign of letting the weather dampen their spirits.

A week in music videos... We finally get the first glimpse of what's in store for Kings Of Leon's sixth album 'Mechanical Bull' with their new single 'Supersoaker'. It's probably one of the most highly-anticipated albums of the year following their 2010 offering 'Come Around Sundown' which reached the top spot on the UK album charts and number 2 in the US. If you're a fan of awesome, driving rock anthems, then after listening to 'Supersoaker' you'll be the first to grab a copy of the new album in September. Listen to Supersoaker here.

Just as fresh and anthemic is London band Bastille, who stole the hearts of the nation with their debut album 'Bad Blood' earlier this year - an easy chart topper responsible for such tracks as 'Pompeii' and 'Laura Palmer'. They have now released a moving video for their emotional track 'Things We Lose In The Fire' which also managed to chart despite not being released as a single. Bastille are currently on a major world tour and will appear at the likes of Japan's Summer Sonic Festival, Leeds and Reading Festival and Berlin Festival this summer.
