Nowhere Boy is a biopic based on the teenage years of John Lennon's life. The film is based on the book Imagine This: Growing Up With My Brother John Lennon by Julia Baird and centres around Lennon's home life his relationship with his mother and his aunty (who raised him for many years) and developing friendship with fellow The Quarrymen and The Beatles members Paul McCartney and George Harrison.

This is the directorial debut of conceptual artist Sam Taylor-Wood and was selected to close the 53rd annual London Film Festival held in October 2009.
