Funk superstar [James Brown](https://www.contactmusic.com/james-brown) credits his Apache Indian roots with his healthy lifestyle.

The GET UP singer rarely smokes cigarettes and abstains from drinking alcohol because he has a fiery Indian temperament and is frightened about what would happen if he got drunk.

He explains, "I have this American Indian in me. Apache Indian. I look like my dad.

"I guess the Indian temper is there. That's why I don't drink liquor. I just be a nice fella and work hard, ha ha! I eat right, too. We don't really care about whisky, but we're not knocking it.

"I smoke very little. If I smoke, I smoke what the Indians smoke. Whatever that is, ha ha ha!"
