Derrick Harris, aka True Master, was accused of attacking a woman at his home in Harlem four years ago, and he has been held behind bars ever since.

The 45 year old denied allegations he committed a criminal sexual act and on Friday (07Aug15), at the end of a three-week trial at Manhattan's State Supreme Court, a 12-person jury cleared him of the charge, which carried a maximum sentence of 25 years.

However, they were unable to agree on the verdicts for other accusations of attempted rape, sex abuse, assault, unlawful imprisonment and escape, and as one of the jurors could not serve beyond Friday, Justice Abraham Clott was forced to declare a mistrial.

The decision is a small victory for Harris, who represented himself during the proceedings, and insisted he was innocent of rape and had merely been trying to stop the woman from leaping naked from the window of his apartment.

It is not yet known if he will be retried on the remaining counts.
