Rap royalty have teamed up ahead of the of the release of Snoop Dogg's forthcoming album, 'Take It From A G', to share a new single and video, 'Watch Your Dogs'. Snoop joins forces with Eminem, Dr Dre and DMX to produce possibly Hip-Hop's greatest ever super-group on his new track.
Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre and Eminem are no strangers to collaborating together, they famously assembled their collective might on Dre's 1999 album '2001'. The winning combination from back then is still a winner two decades on and all the protagonists still seem to be really enjoying their time together.
Snoop still looks like he's a king in his zip code, driving around in his low rider and lording it up all over town. Dr Dre looks more chilled out than ever, occasionally cracking a smile to camera whilst Eminem is in full blown Slim Shady mode delivering his home grown quality lines just as he did on their previous work.
The introduction of DMX into the mix adds an extra element to the track. When DMX raps the tension rises and the level of implied hostility is raised. He and his crew are full of fight and venom as they vocally spar with Snoop, Dre and Eminem.
Footage for the video also includes cuts to vintage videos of NWA and also Eminem recording with Dre before the turn of the century. It reminds us of past glories but also highlights how long all of these artists have been in the game. Together they have a combined age of more than 200 years which given rap's rate of attrition is quite remarkable in itself.
