Demi Lovato follows up her December single, 'Monsters' featuring All Time Low and blackbear, with another collaborative venture as she joins Sam Fischer on 'What Other People Say'. Australian Fischer said that he was "blown away" that Lovato had agreed to work with him on the track.
“'What Other People Say' is a confession, realizing how far away you can get from who you are in an effort to be liked, It’s about the pressures of society and how getting caught up with the wrong things can change you” Fischer has said about the song. He went on to say, that it's "Written about a feeling of being alone and not wanting to let people down, the pairing takes two different lives and perspectives and unites them in one message of human experience, emotion and togetherness, so they are alone with one another in the song,"
Demi, who last year also worked with the likes of Marshmello, Sam Smith and Travis Barker, said of her latest single, "This song is a reflection on what it’s like to lose who you truly are in an effort to please other people and society. It’s why I wanted to make this song with Sam – ultimately it’s about two humans coming together to connect and find solutions to their problems." She added via her Instagram account, "these lyrics are so special to my heart, I can't wait to share this one with you", 'What Other People Say' "is out nowww!!"
The lyric video to accompany the confessional song features a game of Guess Who as Lovato and Fischer sing out the emotionally charged lyrics. Written by Fischer before his breakthrough track 'This City' it's a song that tugs at your heart strings with it's reflective, and raw content.
