'Mood Swings' featuring Lil Tjay is the latest video release from deceased rapper and singer Pop Smoke, taken from his posthumous debut album 'Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon' which was released earlier this year.
The 20-year-old sings about a rather confusing relationship in this super dirty R&B track that may sound romantic, but explored in depth it's actually clear that this is a relationship that the male isn't totally invested in. The video is directed by David Wept, and a remix of the track has also been released featuring Summer Walker.
In a situation sadly not altogether unfamiliar in the world of hip hop, Pop Smoke was shot and killed at his home in February 2020, less than a year after dropping his break-out single 'Welcome to the Party', from his debut mixtape 'Meet the Woo'. Less than two weeks before his death he also released 'Meet the Woo 2', and 'Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon' came five months later, topping the charts in multiple countries including the UK and US.
The album also features guest appearances from the likes of Quavo, Swae Lee, Future, 50 Cent, Roddy Ricch, Tyga, Karol G and King Combs, and includes hit singles 'Dior', 'Make It Rain, 'The Woo' and 'For the Night'.
Pop Smoke's death so early in his career and indeed his life has certainly hit the hip hop community hard, but his legacy is an epic album we can enjoy forever.
