As stable mates on the Dirty Hit label Charli XCX, No Rome and The 1975 have teamed up to form a "supergroup" and release their debut single together, 'Spinning'. Charli wrote on her socials, "formed a supergroup with @no_rome @trumanblack & @bedforddanes75 our song spinning drops march 4th pre save at the link in my bio get ready for the cutest video of all time."
The new track has been a long time in the making with rumours of a hook-up speculated as far back as 2019 when Matt Healy said he'd shared some music with Charli. Earlier this year it became clear that the rumours would become reality as No Rome, aka Guendoline Rome Viray Gomez, announced, "Me, (the creator of music) Charli XCX & The 1975 have a song together. Got the masters done and waiting on video edit cuts."
Speaking of her excitement about the project Charli XCX said, "It’s honestly so cool to have this song with them, I feel like we all speak the same musical language in someway, and that language is stunning/exquisite/tasteful and chic."
The results of the suprergroup project are a slickly produced slice of polished Pop that will have dance floors popping once they're open. The high vocals, electro bleeps and beeps, coupled with the upbeat percussion and vocoder enhanced layering are set to send the track soaring up the charts.
Whilst No Rome and The 1975 are obviously as pleased as punch to be part of such a collaboration it's clear that Charli is the more giddy of the three about it's arrival."spinning out now!!!" Charli said via her Instagram page, adding, "this is literally the cutest song ever and i can’t wait for u to see the video! coming soooon thanks @no_rome for having me on the track and shout out to @trumanblack & king of bpm @bedforddanes75 for great vibes ?? stream spinning now and spam me with spirals."
Whether Charli's collaboration with No Rome and The 1975 leads to further tracks we will just have to wait and see.
