MARINA has taken inspiration from the semi-psychedelic B-Movies of the 60's in the video for her latest single release, 'Venus Fly Trap'. In her two tone - shoulderless - Mary Quant inspired - A-Line style dress MARINA looks every bit the retro movie star. With her matching blue eye-liner and blue hair band the 'Solitaire' singer pulls off the swinging sixties look with style in this 'Feature Presentation'.
MARINA's new single is taken from her fifth studio album 'Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land' and was shared just ahead of it's release. The album has thus far given rise to four singles including MARINA's latest. Back in November 2020 MARINA dropped the lead single from her eagerly awaited new album with the provocative track, 'Man's World'. She followed that up in March with the first version of 'Purge The Poison' and then more recently in May she shared the title track to the album, 'Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land'.
'Venus Fly Trap' is another empowering anthem from the hugely talented Welsh singer-songwriter. "I never quite fit in, To that Hollywood thing (Ah), I didn't play that game, For the money or the fame (Oh), I did it my way, baby, Nothing in this world could change me" MARINA sings on her new single.
"Don't ever underestimate me" MARINA emphasises on a track that is a pure pop banger. Her latest material is certainly not to be underestimated; MARINA's new album is one of her best yet. It doesn't shy away from anything, is quite confrontational at times and doesn't conform to any preconceived stereotypes.
"I got the beauty, got the brains, Got the power, hold the reins, I should be motherf**king crazy, Nothing in this world could change me" rings out with MARINA singing one of the best choruses we've heard all year. MARINA sounds true to herself on her latest record. She's been bold but lost none of her ability to craft a cracking pop song.
'Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land' is released on June 11th via the Atlantic Recording Corporation.
