Laura Marling has reunited with Tunng's Mike Lindsay to collaborate once more on their side-project, LUMP, releasing a new single, 'Animal', ahead of a second album of the same name.
After a chance meeting in 2016, Brit award winner Marling, and multi-instrumentalist and award winning producer Lindsay, started to make music together as LUMP. The band's eponymous album saw Laura Marling provide most of the vocals and lyrics whilst Lindsay played the majority of the instrumentation. Being renowned for his sonic explorations and deft production, Lindsay brought yet another new sound to the fore as he and Marling began to write and perform together.
The subsequent result of Marling's and Lindsay's work as LUMP saw them release three tracks ahead of the first album, their debut single, 'Curse Of The Contemporary', the follow up, 'Late To The Flight' and lastly, 'May I Be The Light', shortly before the album itself in June 2018. In the interim Laura Marling has released yet another Mercury Prize nominated album, 'Song For Our Daughter', as well as being at the forefront of some pay-per-view virtual gigs during the last CoVID affected year.
Mike Lindsay has also been busy remixing the Dive Index single, 'She's Exploding (feat. Natalie Walker)', the Mieko Shimizu track, 'Lazy Light', and has also released an album with Philippe Cohen Solal called 'Outsider' (among other things!). Clearly both of them are not idle for long, whatever circumstances may be thrown at them.
LUMP's latest release, 'Animal', is the duo's first track to be shared from the album which is due for release this summer on July 30th via Chrysalis Records. The electro enhanced song has a detached soundtrack scoring Marling's soft vocal delivery and is the perfect taster track to head up the album.
Ahead of the single's release Laura Marling posted on Instagram, "I have never been prouder of anything then I am of this LUMP album. It's coming out July 30th and the first track is out today. Info on internet."
