Dave takes to a military helicopter and flies "somewhere over the Baltic Sea", "12 Months post-recon", as he travels to a quarry in Katsovia in the video for his latest release - 'Verdansk'. The 'Call Of Duty' inspired song and video see Dave rapping his lyrics into a walkie-talkie and wearing a bullet proof vest as he prepares for the breach.
The Streatham rapper, and winner of the 2018 Mercury Prize for his album 'Psychodrama' - an album described as "the boldest and best British rap album in a generation", is clearly enjoying his role in the 'Warzone' epic that he helped co-direct with long term collaborator Nathan James Tettey ('Question Time'/'Funky Friday').
'Verdansk' is Dave's third single to be released from his critically acclaimed second full length album, 'We're All Alone In This Together', which he dropped in July this year. His latest single follows up the lead single 'Clash', which featured fellow London rapper Stormzy, and more recently his second single release 'System' which featured 'Essence' artist WizKid.
Whilst Dave and Stormzy's collaboration hit the heady heights of number two in the UK singles charts, 'System' failed to chart at all so Dave will be hoping his gaming inspired visuals will help drive momentum for his latest release.
Prior to the release of 'Verdansk', Dave announced, via his Indstagram page, details of his upcoming tour that is due to start in early 2022. Starting in Nottingham, at the Motorpoint Arena on February 15th, the 'We're All In This Together' tour will take in Birmingham, Bouremouth, Cardiff, The 02 in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow and will finally draw to a close at the 3Arena in Dublin on March 3rd.
Have a spookily musical Halloween this year.
