Burna Boy drops the second single to be taken from his 2020 album, 'Twice As Tall', as he also shares a video for the track, 'Way Too Big'. Following the release of 'Wonderful' back in June, as well as a couple of collaborations with Sam Smith and Goody Grace along the way, 'Way Too Big' is officially Burna Boy's eighth single this year.
The high tempo track showcases Burna Boy out on his own, highlighting his quality as a solo performer. Burna Boy's foray into a more commercial, immediate and quite frankly more pop flavoured arena continues on 'Way Too Big'. The playful up front beat, lighter vocal treatment and catchy melodies are all clear winners on Burna Boy's latest single.
As his audience continues to grow ever larger so to do his musical references and influences. 'Way Too Big' has Hip-Hop elements to it in the bass heavy soundtrack that under scores Burna Boy's singing but the other instrumentation has more of a pop bent to it, as does Burna Boy's vocoder enhanced layered vocal.
The video that accompanies the song is set in Burna Boy's sprawling home town of Lagos, Nigeria. It starts with a news conference where Burna sits in front of posters that read 'Hope For The Best Prepare For The Worst' before cutting to footage of a boxing match that also features our star turn.
Out in the town Burna is seen sitting atop a huge freestanding Nigerian Breweries billboard with his legs dangling over the edge. Perched very high up, and very precariously, he attracts the attentions of curious on-lookers as they pass by whilst he sings, including a local news crew. 'African Giant' is how Burna Boy is described in the news feed and they are not wrong.
