A mother brown bear and her two cubs are about to face the biggest challenge of their lives as they embark on a dangerous and unpredictable journey across the Alaska Peninsula following a much safer winter tucked away in hibernation. Though the cubs may not be aware of the types of the threats that are out their waiting for them, the mother is all too aware of the obstacles; from predatory wolves and male bears to thunderous avalanches and even, though not life-threatening, shellfish. The mother must show them how to collect food and feed themselves from the few nutritional resources available such as river salmon. It's tough on everyone with so little food available and so many threats out there, but these young bears are about to learn the most important lessons of their life when it comes to survival, being safe and, above all, being a family.
