Aldous Harding makes a welcome return with her first new music in nearly three years as she releases - 'Lawn', the lead single from her forthcoming album. Harding's output of late has, sadly, been rather limited. In 2021 she released a version of an old track of hers, 'Old Peel', and also contributed to the 4AD celebratory compilation album - 'Bills & Aches & Blues', but that's pretty much all we've been treated to since she released her last album - 'Designer', back in April 2019.
'Designer', her best work to date, was a fabulous album that wowed critics and fans alike with songs that included 'The Barrel', 'Fixture Picture', 'Zoo Eyes' and 'Pilot'. Her new album, due out on March 25th via 4AD, is titled 'Warm Chris' and will be produced, as her last two albums have been, by the extremely talented producer John Parish (PJ Harvey/Eels/Sparklehorse etc).
The new ten track album, Harding's fourth full length record, will include contributions from a whole host of artists including composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Gavin Fitzjohn, Polar Bear percussionist Seb Rochford, singer-songwriter H. Hawkline (Huw Evans), Sleaford Mods’ Jason Williamson and Hopey and John Parish.
To coincide with the release of her new single, and the announcement of her album release date and title, Aldous Harding also shared news of her 2022 UK tour dates. From the 30th March, five days after 'Warm Chris' is released, Harding will play two consecutive nights at The Barbican in London followed by nights in Norwich, Glasgow, Dublin, Manchester, Brighton, Cardiff and Bristol.
Harding's new record includes her latest single, the title track and eight other compositions; 'Ennui', 'Tick Tock', 'Fever', 'Passion Babe', 'She'll Be Coming Round The Mountain', 'Staring At The Henry Moore', 'Bubbles' and finally 'Leathery Whip'. All of the tracks on the new album were recorded at Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire, Wales, a studio that has previously played host to the Stone Roses, Oasis, The Charlatans and the Boo Radleys among many others.
