On the same day that he celebrated his 27th Birthday, London rapper AJ Tracey dropped his first new track of 2021, 'Anxious'. The Ladbrook Grove singer-songwriter also simultaneously premiered a video for his latest song featuring, mainly, him cruising the streets of the West End of London in his drop top Roller.
Tracey's last solo release was his nine track mixtape EP from late November last year, 'Secure The Bag! 2', although he has already released one single this year, featuring on Digga D's track 'Bringing It Back'. AJ's new material is an upbeat and self affirming rap with a lot of love going out to Tracey himself. According to his PR, 'Anxious', "marks a notable switch of pace, and a bold statement of intent, speaking on the varying emotions felt by AJ in his current position."
If that's true, and going by the song's lyrics, his current position would appear to be very healthy indeed. "I run this London town" sings AJ, adding, "taxman on my back, he sees my figures gettin' hazy", "The way I flex is different, I got so much confidence." Driving around in his Rolls Royce, taking advantage of his wealth to organise personal shopping trips to Selfridges and necking his Moet likes it's mineral water it would appear that Tracey has it made.
'Anxious' is hopefully a sign of how the new material will sound on his second album which is due out this later this year. AJ's follow up to his 2019 self titled debut is "almost done" apparently. It looks like AJ is gearing up for it's release, letting his fans know that his new song had landed via a tweet that simply read, "Anxious out now! RUN IT UP FA ME!"
