AC/DC keep up their current heady momentum of activity with the release of their third single from the band's latest album, 'Power Up'. 'Demon Fire' follows the lead single 'Shot In The Dark' and November's 'Realize' as the Aussie rockers show no signs of letting up.
It's unlikely that the OAP's need to top up their pension plans but the current frenzy of activity around their latest album is maximising every opportunity. 'Power Up' is AC/DC's first album in six years, following on from 2014's 'Rock Or Bust', and it is their first since the band effectively reunited after a few experimental line up changes so there's probably a lot of pent up energy driving the current wave of activity.
At 65 Angus Young is no spring chicken but that's nothing compared to lead singer Brian Johnson who turned 73 only a few months ago. Both seem buoyed to be back together, belying their years and sounding better than ever on the new album. 'Demon Fire', track seven on the current album, is a firecracker of a tune that showcases both the simple but effective guitar riffs that Young is so adept at but also the extraordinary, rasping vocals of Johnson.
As with most AC/DC songs the pace is relentless with a particularly impressive percussive backbone that never skips a beat and never falls short of making a great platform for the vocals and guitars. After the initial narrated start, and preparatory drum beats, there's really no stopping AC/DC as they power through the song with the gusto of much younger men.
The video is all very Fast And Furious meets Mad Max with a Stig like driver as the main character. He's pursued by rival drivers, bikers and the cops as he navigates his way to Hell passing many an AC/DC sign along the way.(Including one that says, "This one's for Mal")
