Showering a woman with cash, or 'making it rain,' has become something of a mainstay in hip-hop and R&B circles of late, however one artist who might be giving the tend a rest for the time being is Trey Songz, who was placed under police custody after allegedly striking a woman in the eye with a wad of cash.

This is no recent altercation though, in fact the incident took place at an album launch party Trey, real name Tremaine Neverson, was holding at a New York City strip club way back in August. The incident occurred between 4:00 and 4:15 AM on the 22nd, when Trey became involved in an altercation inside the club. The story has remained under-wraps since then, until TMZ broke the news earlier today after being granted access to the official police complaint.

The police document reads as followed: "Tremaine Neverson did throw a sum of United States currency at the complainant and said sum of United States currency struck the complainant's left eye causing substantial pain to her left eye."

The identity of the woman has been kept quiet too (we suspect that she was a worker at the club, if you know what we mean), and Songz managed to escape arrested that night. It wasn't until September when the rapper/singer was charged though, when he was taken in for misdemeanor assault. He since attended a court date in New York City to on November 1, when an order of protection was issued. He is due back in court in February.

Trey has not been able to be reached to discuss the matter as of yet.
