Veteran rocker Tom Waits has received an unusual 60th birthday gift - he is reportedly lined up for a role in the movie version of The Hobbit.
The Downtown Train singer celebrates the milestone on Monday (07Dec09) amid rumours he is set to be offered a part in director Peter Jackson's big-screen version of J.R.R.'s Tolkien's classic novel.
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, The Office actor Martin Freeman, and The Last King of Scotland's James MCAvoy have previously been linked to the film, and now Waits has reportedly been added to the list.
A source tells movie website Ain't It Cool News, "As much as I'd like to say he's a lock (certainty), I'm told he's simply someone the production is talking about - but they seem to be talking about him pretty seriously."
