Barbara Broccoli reportedly thinks Hiddleston doesn't have what it takes to play 007.
The seemingly interminable speculation about who is set to become the next James Bond actor have taken another turn, with the revelation that Tom Hiddleston stands little chance of landing the part because, according to a producer, he’s “too smug”.
Bond chief Barbara Broccoli is reportedly not enamoured with the idea of The Night Manager actor Hiddleston, 35, playing 007 in the future, according to a new report by the New York Post’s Page Six.
“Barbara Broccoli doesn’t like Tom Hiddleston, he’s a bit too smug and not tough enough to play James Bond," a source told the publication on Wednesday (April 5th).

Kong: Skull Island was a lot of fun for all involved.

When your job takes you to the most beautiful places in the world - Queensland, Australia; Oahu, Hawaii; and Northern Vietnam - you'd be a fool not to make the most of what the local environment has to offer. With Kong: Skull Island, Tom Hiddleston continues a barnstorming year that has included a high-profile biopic (I Saw the Light), an edgy British thriller (High-Rise) and a Golden Globe-winning TV series (The Night Manager). And he has Thor: Ragnarok coming in October.
For Tom Hiddleston, Kong was a chance to indulge in a genre he previously hasn't explored with great breadth: "As it was pitched to me, it was a big adventure film that was quite old-fashioned, but with a very fresh context," he says. "Truly, I think there's a part of all of us that wonders how we would survive on an island untouched by man. Even better, how we'd survive on an island untouched by man and inhabited by King Kong!"

Hiddleston was involved in the project early enough that he got to have input into developing his mercenary, ex-special forces character Captain James Conrad. "I wanted him to be someone who starts off in a world weary place," he says. "And his experiences on the island give him a new humility in the face of the wonder and power of the natural world."

And it was probably the most British thing he ever heard.
Does peeing on someone really help with a jellyfish sting? Tom Hiddleston better hope so because he tested the theory on his co-star Tom Hollander when the latter got attacked by a gelatinous pest while they were at the beach. Needless to say, it didn't seem to work.
Tom Hiddleston peed on Tom Hollander's jellyfish sting
During his appearance on 'The Graham Norton Show' last night (February 16th 2017), 'The Night Manager' actor revealed how Hollander was stung (hopefully in just the leg or the foot or something) while taking a dip in the ocean, and the pair subsequently decided to test an age-old remedy - in the most British way possible.

Hiddleston opened up for the first time about his relationship with Taylor Swift, and THAT tank top.
Having been one half of the most famous celebrity coupling of 2016, Tom Hiddleston has at last broken his silence about his experience as part of the short-lived cultural phenomenon known as ‘Hiddleswift’, insisting that his romance with Taylor Swift was “real”.
‘The Night Manager’ actor, 35, had nothing but praise for pop megastar Swift, saying that her long-standing reputation as something of a man-eater is not deserved, although their relationship only lasted a little over three months.
“Taylor is an amazing woman. She’s generous and kind and lovely, and we had the best time. Of course it was real,” Hiddleston told the newest edition of GQ magazine.

Tom Hiddleston has apologised for his speech at Sunday night’s Golden Globes, admitting it was “inelegantly expressed”.
The actor came under fire on social media for the speech, which referenced his time in South Sudan and added that a group of Médecins Sans Frontières doctors told him they had “binge-watched” the ‘Night Manager’. Television has never been more exciting.
2016 has been a hell of a year for television. The Primetime Emmy nominations earlier this year were packed with a mass of incredible TV shows both brand new and ongoing, and it's not stopped there either. Whether it's a limited series of a long-running franchise, television has never been more loved.
Here are our favourite TV shows of the year:
Fleabag is written by and stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge
It's the 1970s and Captain James Conrad and Lieutenant Colonel Packard are leading a group of soldiers and explorers to a seemingly idyllic unmapped location in the Pacific.
Unfortunately, their journey requires some serious collateral damage, as they are forced to bomb the island and unwittingly incite the treacherous ire of Kong, the King of Skull Island. He crushes them - literally. That's what happens when you bomb the habitat of a giant ape. But soon they realise that Kong isn't the only outsize creature they have to fear, because the island is home to a group of demonic monsters as well, some that resemble spiders and others that resemble reptiles. Their only hope is to enlist the help of the island's inhabitants, tribal men and women who worship the great Kong but disapprove of the Americans' willingness to attack their home.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts ('The Kings of Summer'), 'Kong: Skull Island' is a re-imagining of the King Kong story, following him to his home on Skull Island where he first originated. The screenplay was written by Dan Gilroy and Max Borenstein, and filming spanned locations the likes of Hawaii, Australia's Gold Coast and Vietnam. Starring Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly, the film is scheduled to be released on March 10th 2017.

It’s not too late for Swift to say sorry, according to Perry.
It’s the most talked about feud in pop music, but on Saturday Katy Perry said she would consider working with her rival Taylor Swift, if the ‘Bad Blood’ singer apologises. The two stars have been rumoured to be feuding for years, a drama that was brought up again in July by Swift’s ex Calvin Harris, when he went on a Twitter rant which included a reference to her trying to 'bury Katy’.

Hemsworth thinks 'Home & Away' should have won.
Poor Tom Hiddleston. He landed his first award for 'The Night Manager' last night (September 5th 2016) at the TV Choice Awards, but he was immediately mocked for his win by his 'Thor' co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba as he delivered a message via video link.
Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth are total buddies
He's seen numerous nominations for his part in the BBC drama, including at the Emmys, but it's only now Tom Hiddleston has managed to scoop his first prize as Best Actor at the TV Choice Awards. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to attend the awards ceremony himself, given that he was down under filming 'Thor: Ragnorok', but he did rise in the early hours of the morning to deliver his acceptance speech.
'I'm so sorry I can't be there tonight, I'm sure you all look lovely', he said. 'I'm in Australia, I'm shooting 'Thor: Ragnorok', I don't really have anything to offer you.'
After that, he was joined by Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba, who proceeded to manhandle the award and tease their friend about his win. 'Oh, is that for us? For 'Home & Away', yeah?' Joked Chris. 'Thanks everyone at Channel 7, I loved working on 'Home & Away'.'
Idris was a little harsh, examining the trophy and saying: 'Oh man, that's really awful, isn't it? What's this for?' He went on to ask why his detective series 'Luther' didn't get nominated and gave a nod to Tom's co-star Hugh Laurie. 'Hugh - you were amazing in 'The Night Manager'', he said.
'Chris and Idris are super happy about it and so am I so thank you very much', Tom said in his attempt to continue. 'Loved being 'The Night Manager', loved making 'The Night Manager'.'

'Home & Away' rocks! And so does 'The Night Manager'', Chris said before disappearing out of the frame.

Just four months after they got together, reports suggest Hiddleswift is on the verge of breaking apart.

While ‘Poldark’s’ Aidan Turner took over as the bookie’s favourite over the weekend, Hiddleston has also had his fair share of money placed on his name, even though he has continually denied all rumours.

Appearing at the Wizard World event in Philadelphia over the weekend, Hiddleston was asked by a fan in the audience about the Bond rumours. “I’m sorry to disappoint you, everybody. I don’t think that announcement is coming,” he said.

The current 007 has hung up his tuxedo
Daniel Craig has reportedly turned down a whopping £68million to appear as James Bond in the next two films of the continuing franchise. The 48-year-old actor has donned the 007 tuxedo in four films but has not been silent in his desire to step down from the coveted role.
Daniel Craig has reportedly turned down £68 million to carry on as Bond
The Sun has reported that the extreme financial offr is made up of profit shares, endorsements and a role as co-producer.
Hiddleston is said to be the hot favourite to take over the 007 role from Daniel Craig.
A bookmakers has suspended betting on who will be the next James Bond, after an influx of bets on ‘ The Night Manager’ star Tom Hiddleston between Friday and Saturday made him the 2-1 favourite. A particularly large bet was also then placed on Hiddleston, which saw his odds plummet to 1-2.
Is Tom Hiddleston the next James Bond?
Nicola McGeady, a spokesperson for Coral, who suspended betting on Hiddleston said: "There is no smoke without fire, and following the big gamble on Tom Hiddleston in the last 24 hours, we've had no choice but to pull the plug on the market.”
He wasn't there on business.
Calm down, everyone; Tom Hiddleston quashes rumours once again that he's all set to play James Bond in the next 007 movie, despite whispers that he was meeting with producer Barbara Broccoli and director Sam Mendes in Soho, London this week. Though that doesn't mean it's impossible, of course.
Tom Hiddleston continues to deny Bond rumours
It was alleged that 'The Night Manager' actor was meeting the Bond filmmakers at the Soho House members' club, but Hiddleston says that it was just coincidence that the trio were in the same place at the same time. Writer-director Marc Abraham gets ambitious with this biopic about iconic country music star Hank Williams, but the film is far too choppy to provide much insight. Leaping through the decades without much context, the film never explores what made Williams such an important artist, so it's difficult to understand the impact of his tragic death at just 29. That said, Tom Hiddleston shines in the role.
Cutting around in time, the film shows Hank (Hiddleston) as a young man with a singular vision: he's determined to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. His young wife Audrey (Elizabeth Olsen) and his mother Lillie (Cherry Jones) argue about who will control his career, but Hank just gets on with it, relying on help from music publisher Fred Rose (Bradley Whitford). Finally at 26 he gets his first No 1 single, and lands a spot at the Opry, becoming a fast-rising superstar. But the chronic back pain he has suffered since childhood leads him into alcohol and drug abuse, which of course begins to take a toll on his career as well as his friendships, marriage and health.
The film skips around Williams' life, moving on to the next scene before this one seems quite finished. This means that the story is never able to build up any momentum, and also that each fragmented period of time feels under-explained. And the people around Williams appear and disappear at random, so the actors never get any traction in their roles. Hiddleston does find moments of resonance, simply because he's in every scene in the film and establishes a bit of rapport with the audience. It's also astonishing that he performs the songs himself. But Abrahams's approach to storytelling never offers any insight into Williams' fame, talents or personal life.

It's common knowledge for most Brits; members of the royal family must be greeted with a little bow and a handshake if, and only if, it's offered. Hugs, kisses, high fives, fist pumps - out of the question. Except no-one told Tom Hiddleston when he met the Duchess of Cornwall.
Tom Hiddleston gets a cheeky hug with the Duchess
Thankfully, Duchess Camilla was unfazed as the 'Thor' actor wrapped his arm around her shoulders for a photo with TV presenter Chris Evans. She wasn't going to complain about the handsome actor breaching royal protocol though, having just explained to him how much she loved his BBC TV show 'The Night Manager'. Any woman would be smitten at such a greeting.

Yes Thor is to blame for the bad weather conditions.

Yes British actor Tom Hiddleston made a guest appearance during the weather report on Chicago’s 32 station on Thursday, to blame his onscreen brother The God of Thunder Thor aka Chris Hemsworth, for the coming bad conditions.

Hiddleston not only stars as Hank Williams in biopic ‘I Saw The Light’, he also recorded his own versions of singer’s most famous tracks.
He’s played comic book characters and vampires, but in I Saw The Light Tom Hiddleston takes on the role of a real life legend, country music star Hank Williams. For his portrayal of the iconic singer, who died in 1953 aged 29, Hiddleston not only learned how to be Hank, he learned how to sing like him too.
Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams in I Saw The Light.
With the help of singer and songwriter Rodney Crowell, Hiddleston had the unenviable task of re-recording Williams’ music, to add extra authenticity to his portrayal of the country hero. For Hiddleston, it was a gruelling five week process filled with highs and lows, as he learned to channel Williams.
Tom Hiddleston seems to be everywhere at the moment.
His hit TV series The Night Manager is just coming to its conclusion in Britain (it airs in America in April), his satirical thriller High-Rise just opened in the UK, and now his Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light is out in the US.
I Saw the Light traces Williams from his first marriage to Audrey Mae Sheppard (Elizabeth Olsen) in 1944 to his untimely death in 1953 at just 29 years old. "In the intervening period, he wrote some of the greatest songs in the history of American music," Hiddleston says. "The film is about the man behind the myth, the power of his music, the sheer voltage of his talent and charisma, and his formidable demons."

After a string of award-winning arthouse hits like Kill List and A Field in England, director Ben Wheatley and writer Amy Jump stumble with this adaptation of the 1970s J.G. Ballard novel. The satirical dystopian setting offers buckets of eye-popping visual style, plus outrageously twisted characters the A-list cast have a lot of fun sinking their teeth into. But while the themes are strong, the people on screen are so aggressively loathsome that it's not an easy movie to watch.
It's set in a brutal concrete tower within commuting distance of London, where new resident Robert (Tom Hiddleston) is learning his way around the building's modern, self-contained design. He especially enjoys flirting with his sexy upstairs neighbour Charlotte (Sienna Miller). But the building has a social structure that is creating some serious tension. Wealthy residents like the tower's architect Anthony (Jeremy Irons) live at the top, while economically struggling families like Helen and Richard (Elisabeth Moss and Luke Evans) are closer to the ground, with middle-class families in between. So when the lower floors lose their supply of water and electricity, they revolt against the upper classes, waging all-out war in the hallways.
The political commentary is astute and perhaps even more timely today than it was in 1975, when the novel was written and when the film is set. And each of the characters is full of energy and anger. So it's frustrating that the choppy editing style seems to lose track of people and plot-threads as it shifts around to various angles on the action. This makes all of the violence and sex feel oddly random and excessive, as things get increasingly nasty and each of the people loses the audience's sympathy. Hiddleston has terrific presence, but the film kind of abandons him along the way. While Irons is hamming it up shamelessly, Evans is inexplicably brutal and both Moss and Miller are little more than victims.

Robert thinks that a beautiful closed off high-rise apartment is just the place for him to make a home. His flat is located on the twenty-fifth floor which is somewhere in the middle and as Robert settles in and is introduced to his new neighbours, he soon begins to realise that there's a hierarchy within the building -the higher the floor you're on, the more your life is worth.
The higher you go in the 40-odd floored building, the more palatial your surroundings become. Somehow the man behind the design of the building appears to hold more answers than he's willing to give. Lines are soon crossed and war breaks out between the self-imposed floor class system.

I Saw The Light is the new biopic about Hank Williams. The film follows his personal life and rise to fame and his tragic death at the age of 29. Having released 30 singles in a very short amount of time Hank Williams became one of the US's favourite musicians.
Having begun work in the music industry recording tracks for a radio station, eventual turn of events and the war led Williams onto starting a solo career. Both his mother and his wife played a huge part in his musical success with his wife Audrey initially managing him which led onto Hank being signed to MGM Records.
Hank always wished to be the best father he could to his child, but constant time on the road, an addiction to pain medication, alcohol topped with his promiscuous ways lead to an unstable home life, despite the wholesome image the outside world had of him.

The X-Men panel certainly had the most impressive cast turnout. Actors from across the X-Men films appeared to promote X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is due to be released in 2014. Ian McKellan flirted with the younger reincarnation of his character Magneto, Michael Fassbender, commenting on Proposition 8, he said "It's great to be back in California, I feel safe here now." He continued by announcing "I'm looking for a husband", cheekily adding "it's great to meet you Michael".

Ben Affleck is following the likes of Hugh Jackman and Tom Hiddleston by living off just $1.50 per day.
Oscar-winner Ben Affleck has announced he will live on just $1.50 a day as part of the Global Poverty Project's Live Below The Line campaign. The Argo director is following the lead of Hugh Jackman, who successfully lived on the same amount for the campaign in 2011, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Affleck - a long-time charity campaigner - took to Twitter to show his support. "1.4 billion people live on less than $1.50/day. I'm joining Live #BelowTheLine on behalf of @easterncongo. Will you?," he tweeted. The challenge is meant to "give a glimpse into the lives of 1.4 billion people who have no choice but to live below the line every day - and who have to make $1.50 cover a lot more than food," according to the organizaton's website.
Jonah Hill, Katie Couric and Justin Bieber's Scooter Braun also tweeted their support for the case, while musician Josh Groban has raised $4,700 so far after commitment to spending just $1.50 per day on food and drink. "In today's world, extreme poverty and inequality are unjustifiable and unfair. Live Below the Line demonstrates the problem in a concrete way, while raising money to address the problem." Thor: The Dark World actor Tom Hiddleston posted a video of himself on his fifth day of the challenge. The clip shows Tom in his kitchen with a simple baked potato for lunch. He also tweeted his meals throughout the challenge, which included boiled rice with vegetables, and an omelette with kidney beans. "Profoundly aware that to live truly #belowtheline I would have to forego many & various privileges....," he tweeted in April, adding, "To live truly #belowtheline I would have to surrender the roof over my head, gas, electricity, and clean, running water."

The trailer for Thor: The Dark World has finally arrived, and it looks pretty impressive.
Thor has had a pretty rough couple of years, what with battling his adoptive brother Loki and other enemies in The Avengers, but he's dusted himself down and is back for more. In Thor: The Dark World, the hammer wielding hero returns to Earth to reunite with his beloved Jane Foster, played here by Natalie Portman, and whisks her back to his home in Asgard.
Watch the Thor: The Dark World trailer here!
Of course, living happily ever after would be too easy (and a little boring) and Thor unfortunately brings Jane back to terrible danger. A dark race led by the ruthless Malekith plans to plunge the entire universe into oblivion, leaving Thor to confront his imprisoned brother for help. The new movie is the sequel to Kenneth Branagh's 2011 movie and is set some time after Joss Whedon's The Avengers. Based on the comic books of Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby, Thor 2 is helmed by a new director in Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, Mad Men) though is penne d by returning screenwriter Don Payne (Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer) alongside Christopher Yost (The Avengers) and Stephen McFeely (The Chronicles of Narnia).
Following the dramatic events of 'Thor' and 'The Avengers' which saw Thor battling not only his double-crossing adoptive brother Loki but a series of other nemeses, the hammer wielding hero returns to Earth to reunite with his beloved Jane Foster and whisk her away to his home in Asgard. Unfortunately, he ends up bringing her towards terrible danger that he himself could not fathom. A dark race that predates even the oldest corners of the universe; a race of elves led by the ruthless Malekith who plans to plunge the entire universe back into oblivion in a vengeful pursuit that will destroy everything that Thor and Odin have fought to protect. In desperation, Thor confronts his imprisoned brother and asks for help in exchange for his freedom with the promise that he will destroy Loki if he dares betray him again. Can Thor and the rest of Asgard defeat the latest dark force that threatens them? Or will such a primitive power prove impossible to overcome?
Here is the new sequel to Kenneth Branagh's 2011 movie 'Thor' that is set some time after the events of Joss Whedon's 'The Avengers'. 'Thor: The Dark World' is based on the comic books by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby and sees a new director, Alan Taylor ('Game Of Thrones', 'Mad Men', 'The Emperor's New Clothes'), with the return of screenwriter Don Payne ('Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer') alongside Christopher Yost ('The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes') and Stephen McFeely ('The Chronicles of Narnia', 'Captain America: The First Avenger'). It is set to hit the UK on October 30th 2013.
