In 1960, the hard work of many good people was tested greatly. The height of the Cold War was set to see a series of peaceful negotiation between the Americans and Russians, but a week beforehand, everything changed. An American spy plane was shot down by Russian missiles, carrying pictures of various Russian air force bases. While the US government tried to deny the charges, the Russians were able to provide the pictures, the airplane wreckage, and the pilot - miraculously unharmed. In exchange for his return, they wanted one of their captured spies to be returned. James B. Donovan (Tom Hanks), a simple lawyer, was tasked with creating a case to allow the US government to release the Soviet spy without jail time - a request that seemed almost impossible in the face of Cold War prejudice.

The aspiring rapper is wanted by police following hotel room drama.
Tom Hanks' career may be as hectic as ever, but now he's got his home life to stress over as his 24-year-old son Chester continues to hit headlines for the most controversial of reasons. Now, he's wanted by British police after allegedly, excuse the cliché, trashing a hotel room.
Chet Hanks looking a lot more innocent
It seems Chet Hanks is desperate to achieve some kind of recognition, but instead of going down the route of his father and older brother Colin Hanks as a super serious movie star, he's opting for more of a rock 'n' roll lifestyle instead; which, in his case, apparently means drinking to excess and smashing up the furniture of his room in London and causing £1,200 damages.
'The Godfather' star is a big fan of the Hollywood star.
He might be famous for being an Oscar winning gangster actor, but Al Pacino takes on a role a little out of his comfort zone with 'Danny Collins'; a biographical movie about an up and coming musician inspired by John Lennon, who later receives a letter from his hero some 40 years after it was actually written.
Al Pacino stars in 'Danny Collins'
Pacino has already confessed to having reservations about the eponymous part because it involves singing, but there was definitely certain attractions in the character's personality that gripped him nonetheless; mainly the fact that the script reminded him of the kind of movie that one of his favourite actors Tom Hanks would get involved with.

David Letterman's 'Late Show' set has been dismantled mere hours after the final episode aired.
David Letterman's Late Show set has already been thrown in the trash. The talk show host's last show was on Wednesday night (20th May) but within 24 hours the set had been dismantled and parts of it could be seen in a dumpster close to the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York.
David Letterman's Late Show set was quickly dismantled after the final episode aired.
The actor will star in Ron Howard's third adaptation of Brown's Robert Langdon novels.
Tom Hanks has captivated us with his role as a brooding Harvard professor since 2006, when he appeared in the adaptation of Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code'. Now on to the third film, he returns for another dose of menacing mystery, death-defying adventure and intellectual premise.
Tom Hanks will star in Dan Brown's 'Inferno'
'The Da Vinci Code' (Dan Brown's second novel) was a global phenomenon which portrayed Hanks' character Robert Langdon on a quest for the Holy Grail. The following prequel 'Angels & Demons', explored the creation of the universe and conspiracy within mankind. 'Inferno' - the third film directed by Ron Howard - takes another turn completely and sees Langdon with a lot more of a challenge on his hands.

The director opens up about his third Dan Brown film.
Ron Howard returns with more theology based mystery with 'Inferno'; the film adaptation from Dan Brown's series of Robert Langdon novels which will once again star Tom Hanks in the lead role. While you might guess there'll be more puzzles, narrow escapes from death and questions of faith, the director insists there's something a little bit different about this one.
(L-R) Tom Hanks, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Ron Howard, Omar Sy, Dan Brown and Felicity Jones
Probably best known for the second of his novel series, 2003's 'The Da Vinci Code', Dan Brown returned with 'Inferno' in 2013 - and there's little surprise that this is another to hit cinema screens. The Golden Globe nominated 'Da Vinci Code' adaptation was followed by a prequel - 'Angels & Demons' - which included themes of science, revenge and global conspiracy, much apart from the Holy Grail quest of the former. But now, with 'Inferno', the depths of the universe are even more closely explored.

The British presenter is nearly two months into his 'Late Late Show' career, and has been bowled over by how well it has gone down with US audiences.
Two months or so into his new career as an American talk show host, James Corden has been talking about settling into the job, coping with the transatlantic move and the reaction to his show, which has been very popular so far.
36 year old Corden made his debut as host of ‘The Late Late Show’ on CBS at the end of March after replacing the retiring Craig Ferguson, and quickly won plaudits for his warm, friendly presenting style. Speaking with Heat magazine, he said he was “gobsmacked” by the response from audiences.

The 58 year old actress revealed she had been diagnosed with the disease last month.
Rita Wilson has opened up about her battle with breast cancer and how the illness actually managed to bring her and husband of 27 years Tom Hanks closer. The 58 year old actress underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with the disease and is now in recovery, even returning to her Broadway play, Fish in the Dark.
Wilson and Tom Hanks have been married for 27 years.
“Who knew it would make you even closer?” Wilson told the New York Times. “You never know how your spouse is going to react in a situation like this. I was so amazed, so blown away by the care my husband gave me. It was such a normal, intimate time.”
Carly Rae Jepsen totally fangirled on Tom Hanks on her 'I Really Like You' video.
If there's one thing Carly Rae Jepsen never expected to be doing, it's watching film legend Tom Hanks mime her lyrics on the set of a music video. But that's exactly what happened with her new tune 'I Really Like You'. It's safe to say, she really likes Tom Hanks.
Carly Rae Jepsen really likes Tom Hanks
If you haven't seen the video already, you're the worst. Just kidding. It features the 'Captain Phillips' star going about his day to day business on a cold day in New York, with the hilariously peculiar twist that he's apparently singing the words to Jepsen's new single 'I Really Like You'; the first from her forthcoming studio album. Yes; we immediately imagined Hanks singing along to 'Call Me Maybe' too. If only. And despite his credentials as an amazing double Oscar-winning Hollywood superstar, he was surprisingly easy to bring on board.
Carrie Bradshaw is seemingly not up for hearing another of Forest Gump’s famous stories.
Sarah Jessica Parker has become the star of the internet’s new favourite video, after a hilarious Vine of the actress giving Tom Hanks some serious side-eye was published online. The clip was filmed as Parker sat behind Hanks at a New York Rangers game on Tuesday evening and was seemingly less than impressed by the actor’s skills as a raconteur.
Sarah Jessica Parker was not impressed by Tom Hanks on Tuesday night
Sarah was watching the game with her eldest son James and was pictured throughout the night enjoying herself and getting engrossed in the action at Madison Square Garden. The actress had also been previously spotted talking to Oscar winner Hanks, who was their with his son 24 year old son Chet.
The initial signs are very promising for James Corden's hosting of 'The Late Late Show', as audiences at the Sunday night recording loved him.
He’s admitted to suffering “sleepless nights” in the weeks running up to it, but it seems that the James Corden era of ‘The Late Late Show’ is going to be a success.
The British actor marked his very first time presenting the CBS chat show on Monday, and those present at the filming of the first episode on Sunday evening have given him the thumbs-up for his personable style, with one group telling Sky News’ US correspondent that he had “nailed it”.

Williams has scored all of the director’s movies except for 1985's ‘The Color Purple’.
DreamWorks Pictures has announced Bridge of Spies as the title of Steven Spielberg's upcoming Cold War thriller, which will reunite the director with actor Tom Hanks after nearly a decade. But the film will sadly be without a Spielberg movie staple, as it is the first in 30 years not to feature a score by composer John Williams.
Steven Spielberg's next film will be Bridge of Spies
Announcing the film’s title on Wednesday, DreamWorks Pictures also revealed via a statement that 83 year old Williams had been forced to pull out of the movie due to a health issue.
One good turn really does deserve another, as Tom Hanks found out this week.

Hanks' credit card was returned just days after the 58-year-old actor helped a group of girl scouts sell some boxes of cookies. Hanks took to Twitter on Friday (13th March) to express his gratitude to a New Yorker named Tony. "A guy named Tony found my credit card on the street in NYC and returned it! Tony! You make this city even greater! Thanx. HANX," the You've Got Mail actor wrote.

The ‘Call Me Maybe’ singer has given us an unlikely pairing as Hanks teams up with Bieber.
‘Call Me Maybe’ singer Carly Rae Jepsen is back and she’s sure bringing out the big guns for her latest music video. In the video for ‘I Really Like You’, Oscar winner Tom Hanks shows off his lip syncing skills on a frosty New York winter morning, while the singer and her actor pal are later joined by a surprise guest in the form of pop star Justin Bieber, who also braves the cold for a group dance at the end.
Carly Rae Jepsen really, really likes you
The video shows Hanks walking through New York who miming to Jepsen’s single as he encounters fans and friends on the street on his way to set. But as Jepsen joins him for the big dance number at the end, fellow Canadian pop star (and Scooter Braun client) Justin Bieber makes a surprise appearance, joining Forest Gump for some synchronised dancing.
After 15 years apart Tom Hanks and Wilson have finally be reacquainted.
In a heartwarming tale of old friends being reunited in unlikely circumstances, Tom Hanks and Wilson from Cast Away were brought back together on Thursday, during a New York Rangers game. Wilson of course was the volleyball friend of Hank’s character Chuck Noland in the 2000 movie, though it all does lead us to wonder what a volleyball was doing at a hockey game.
Tom Hanks, minus Wilson
In the film Hanks played a FedEx employee who is the sole survivor of a plane crash and spends four years living on a deserted island before finally being rescued. To help keep him company Noland turns a volleyball from one of the plane’s washed up package into a companion named Wilson.

The series also boasts an impressive list of executive producers including Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.
HBO has greenlit a new miniseries based on explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark and starring Casey Affleck and Matthias Schoenaerts. The six part miniseries will begin filming in the summer and is due on our screens later this year.
Casey Affleck will star in 'Lewis and Clark'
"In Lewis and Clark, we can see American idealism and the breathtaking natural beauty of the continent, as well as the complexities and tragedies of what came to be known as America's 'manifest destiny,' " said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo.
The Hollywood superstar forced to pull out of legal service on the grounds that he could be a distraction.
Another reason why being famous rocks - the Get Out Of Jury Duty Free card. Brad Pitt has been allowed to skip the usually mandatory legal proceedings is case he proves too distracting for the other jurors in the box.
Brad Pitt is let off jury service
You have to admit if you found yourself plonked next to one of Hollywood's most recognisable actors in court, you really wouldn't be interested in listening to evidence being given no matter how professional you are. And it seems that that has been taken into account with his recent calling to jury service in Los Angeles being cancelled. Lucky guy.

The weepy drama that won the 1994 Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Director, Best Visual Effects, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film Editing has gone into film history as not only a great movie, but one of Tom Hanks' finest performances.
It's hard to imagine any other actor in the role of the titular Forrest, yet Bill Murray, Chevy Chase and John Travolta all turned down the opportunity, and Hanks himself had to audition just like everybody else. Take a look below at his touching audition tape, also starring Robin Wright and an adorably little Haley Joel Osment, who even helps Hanks out with a line.

The truth about Andy’s dad has been uncovered and it’s actually pretty depressing.
Ever wondered why Andy’s dad never appears in Toy Story? Maybe you have or maybe you didn't want to, for fear the truth might be too depressing. Well guess what? It is.
In all three Toy Story movies we never see Andy's father.
Pixar enthusiast Joe Negroni has a theory, a very plausible one, about why Andy’s father is never seen nor mentioned in Toy Story. Negroni, is a bit of a Pixar detective, having previously hypothesised that Jesse’s first owne,r Emily, is in fact Andy’s mother. That’s a much happier theory then the one we are about to delve into.

The script is once again being written by Nia Vardalos and the screenwriter, now 51, will star alongside 53-year-old John Corbett. Just like old times – mostly. You'll never guess who could have been Neo or Hans Solo or Forest Gump.
Keanu Reeves as Neo, Tom Hanks as Forest Gump - sometimes in Hollywood an actor plays a role so perfectly you would have thought it was written specially for them. Well more often than not, it wasn’t. Actually some of our favorite movies could have ended up looking very different if another actor hadn’t of passed up a leading role first.
Will Smith could have been Neo in 'The Matrix'.
