Tom Cruise trying to cross a road is one of the big celebrity headlines of the week. The action star was in central London shooting scenes for his forthcoming movie Mission: Impossible 5, though he found navigating Piccadilly Circus (without using the pedestrian crossing) a little tricky.

According to the Mirror, the Mission Impossible 5 crew had avoided using road closures and instead placed cameras in the windows of nearby buildings to capture Cruise's Ethan Hawke making his way through the busy Christmas crowds.

However, when Cruise strode out onto the road, an oncoming double decker bus honked its horn, with the world's most famous actor having to jump back onto the sidewalk. Whilst weighing up the benefits of giving it another go, Tom appears to engage in a little conversation with a man who says "you're Tom Cruise," before jaunting off in the opposite direction. Looks like he just gave up the game.

Mission: Impossible 5 is currently being filmed in the UK with production bosses recently being granted permission to film inside the Houses of Parliament. It's no secret that Cruise has been performing his own stunts throughout, driving a BMW stunt car and hanging off the side of an Airbus A400M Atlas military transporter at RAF Wittering. Cruise famously shot scenes at the top of the world's highest tower, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, for Mission: Impossible 4.
